hi all,

i just entered into my last trimester. Last week i had my glucose tollerence test and it came 195 ( after drinking a whole bottle of glucose ). My doctor suggested to do 3hr test after 2 weeks. But he didn't give me any diet restrictions. So far everything was pretty normal. This is my 2nd pregnancy. Last time it was perfect (97 after having glucose). What's wrong with me this time ? i'm very active....my 3yr old daughter keeps me busy whole day. I didn't gain much weight also...there is no other symptoms of diabetes also. My parents are diabetic. Is this the reason ? I'm really worried. I have started eating low carb and sugarless food. i walk 10mins after every meal ( inside the house ). Will it help me ? If not ,then what's going to happen ? Pls reply me. thanks a lot.

Dear Malini,
Sure there are numerous questions popping up in your mind. I would suggest to calm down. Do not think too much GD is common and as high as 15% pregnant womens are found to suffer with this condition.
This is better news that you know that you have GD (Gestational Diabetes). Now you can either restrict sugar intake or if needed take insulin. With these treatment either dietary or insulin you should be more than fine to deal with remaing of your pregnancy and needless to say your baby is safe and sound inside womb, just relax.

It could be due to family history but I can't say that for sure.

Having no GD in first pregnancy does not assure you won't have in subsequent. Or having in first pregnancy does not necessarily means you should get in subsequent pregnancy only that chances of getting in subsequent are doubled.

The signs of Gd are not very different from what any pregnant women feels even without having Gd.
