Baby Club July-September 2007:Birth Stories

Hey all,

Lets all share our experiences of child birth..i am sure its gonna be interesting to know what each one of us went thru..

i' ll go first..
hi..my EDD was Aug 17th and i went past my due date by a week and there were no signs of pain..since the baby' s head was fixed 3 weeks back, i requested my doc to induce the labor as the wait was getting too long and frustrating..

So i got admitted on 24th night to the hospital at around 9PM..After all the routine examinations, they induced labor at 11PM..it just took few minutes for the induction to work and i started getting contractions..for the first 2 hrs, i somehow managed the pain but the contractions started intensifying and the pain was too much...when i was about 4 cms dilated i was begging for epidural but the doc said that i was doing fine and coping well with pain and asked me to do it without any painkillers..BOY!! i was cursing myself for having chosen a normal delivery..i was thinking,\" oh my god how am i gonna pull this through\" ..
When i was about 5 cm dilated, they broke my waters to see if the baby was in distress..but everything was fine..after that the pain was doubled...they gave me a gas mask to breathe into but it still didnt ease the pain..my hubby was standing right next to me and seemed so helpless..he was saying sorry that he cudnt do anything..
finally around 6:30AM, i was ready to push..i put all my efforts but the baby didnt want to come out..LOL..she was big..the doc gave me an episiotomy with a local anasthesia and i finally delivered my girl at 7:31AM..
once she was out, the paed took her to weigh and when he said that she weighed 3.81 kgs, everyone was surprised..
Everyone who heard the baby birth weight said that the baby that large dont come out of the bottom, they always come thru a c-section..
well, no wonder i had to put soo much effort and had to nurse a long and deep cut of episiotomy which took solid 3 weeks to heal..

Hi roops,

it was really nice to go through ur birth story. My birth story is something miracle. I was visiting Dr. Malathi Rao in Manipal Northside Hospital. I was to be always Ok with all the tests they conducted and everything was normal. My due date was 10/06/2007 but i waited for 43 weeks and till the end moment she kept on saying we will wait for another 2 weeks. But u know it was so frustruating to wait for such long time and my stomach was also heavy. Then we went for a second opinion with other doctor, she checked and she said the baby would be somewhere around 4.5 kg, and the C- Section should be done within next 24 hours, otherwise there would be a problem for the kid. So we rushed the next day to the hospital, they checked all the BP and sugar level and they took me to the OT around 10.30 and i asked doctor that i should be conscious and i should be the first to see the kid. So i was conscious throught the operation and my son was delivered around 11.22 am on thursday i.e. on 05/07/2007 and he was 4.75 kg and he broke the record of being the big baby in that hospital. by holding him i bursted out my tears and i was so happy to see and hold that bundle of joy. My loving and caring husband was there with me till i went into OT. He was supportive and caring i recovered within a week. we are cherishing now each moment of my son. U

Hi Roops,
Sorry for the replying late. My last week was very busy with Guests and my son.
This is a very good topic and madam hats off to you that you chose the option of inducing labor.

Mine is not a very interesting one bcoz I had a c-section but still let me narrate all of you abt the exp that I had.

My EDD was on 21st Aug. When my pregnancy started I had lots of prob but the main was vomiting. I vomited whatever I ate. Nothing was going in even water. I was on I.V fluid for 2 day in the 4th month. Anyways baby was doing fine and in the 7th month i my vomiting stopped and ate each and everything that I was enable to eat during the last six month. Pizza, burger, blah blah blahh!!!
In next visit to my gynac I was found suffering from Gestational diabetes. :(

So now I was on diet and exercise and INSULIN.
By the end of 9th month everything my under control (Sugar level, weight and above all my baby).
My Physician told me that she doesn’t want to take any risk and wants that my C-section should me done in the first week of Aug. We were not prepared for this. It was 20 day earlier than the due date. Anyways now we had to give a date to our gynac. My husband birthday is on Aug30 (=total3), mine is on jan21(total3) so we decided that Aarush should share the same number so we gave the date 3rd Aug.
My mother-in-laws program was now proponed and she came on 2nd. I got admitted on 2nd. All the tests were done and were ok and my gyanc told me that at 9am next day my C-section will be done.
Next morning I was taken to the OT. Everybody as if was waiting for me. They attacked like as I was their prey. One was giving IV, one giving injection in spine and so on. I was so much nervous and had a fear of dying....
They gave me some seductive so that I can sleep during operation. I was feeling sleepy when my doctor came. The time i saw in the watch before going unconscious was 8:50am and Aarush was born at 9:06am.
That’s it’s.
When I was out of OT I asked for my son, they told me he is with my mother-in-law.
I was taken to my room. When I saw my son.. I can’t describe u that moment. My eyes was in tears, I was unable to hold him due to the stitches but was thanking god for giving me this beautiful gift.

So that was the whole story.

Waiting for other moms to share their exp.
Bye
