Waiting to try:Regarding Serophene.
2006-03-11
Name: Anah

Dear friends,

I got married 4 years ago. My husband came to Canada and sponsered me. I had to wait for one year for my visa and finally came here. In India I used to have a 30 day cycle but once i came here i started having heavy flow -- periods upto 2-3 weeks. I went to a nearby walk-in clinic where the doctor gave me medicines and said it is due to homesickness. I took the medicine but it didn't stop. I didn't try to conceive for about a year, since i had periods for about 20 days.

Then i went to a gynecologist who asked me to have a transvaginal ultrasound to check if everything was ok. I had a blood test. Then i had a PAP test to check if i had cancer. I was given Serophene (clomid) and my heavy period started becoming normal.

My Gynecologist said Serophene would cure hormonal imbalance and that it would increase my chances of conceiving.

I have been given 5 doses of Serophene in the past 2 years. My only concern is that - according to some people taking more than 3 doses of serophene may lead to Ovarian cancer. Is it true?

My husband also had his semen ananlysis last year and everything is fine with him.

My ideal weight should be 50 kg but i am 60 kgs now. Gained 13 kg after marriage. I have a lot of fat in my tummy. Since January 2006 i have been trying to lose weight and eat a balanced and healthy diet.

Since the past one year my periods are regular and I have been trying to conceive since then. My doctor says that even if both the husband and wife are healthy it would take about one year to conceive. So we are having high hopes this time. I have a doctors appointment in April. My gynecologist said that she will give me Serophene again if i don't conceive. One more option she gave me is to have laproscopy to check if have a block fallopian tube.

I don't want to have any more Serophene or under the laproscopy surgery. I am trying to lose weight slowly.

Archie and others, I know my mail is a lengthy one but please go through it and suggest something.

I need your support and advises.

With love,
Anah.
