Hey Moms,
If u have finished your baby's 6th mth visit would like to hear from you'll as to what your dr's recommendations about diet in general were how,what&when to feed.Especially those who have desi peadiatricians!!
We can just exchange and obviously follow what suits each of our babies best but since dr's recommendations vary on this issue iam interested in hearing from all in this regard.
My son's visit is next week so will surely add my bit to this mssg once iam back frm that visit! nikki replied. Well my Doc. is not Desi but she said u should him soild 3 times a day like u have ur bfast,lunch and dinner.Give him what u eat but not spicy.Like lentils with rice etc.Give him yogurt too.She said don't always give him readymade food..She said they smell yucky..:)She told me to give veggie and fruits..And make his routine of sleeping ..Early to sleep and early to rise...
I am giving him some water also.
Well Arnav got his 2 shots.He cried there once but after that started playing with his toys..:)

I forgot to ask about sunscreen lotion and oragel for teething...If any one of you have any idea ..Do let me know...

nikki Ritu replied. Just as Radhika said ,Anoushka also got one injection less , there is a nationwide shortage of one injection . Poor kid really cried hard .

The doctor advised that we must start with solid foods starting with yellow veggies then going on to greens . Last thing is fruit . She said we can mix rice cereal and veggies and give during lunch and dinner . But start with one veggie at a time . Can give home cooked food too but be careful specially with boiled carrots must be eaten right after being boiled otherwise they loose their nutrients .Can give juices also and water also on a hot day .

She advised us to buy Sun screen lotion ,a hat and Sunglasses also .

Anoushka has a desi pediatrician .

Ritu Radhika replied. How r u...sid looks very cute. just had anu's 6 month visit. ASked the doc. about food type ,said can give anything that can be mashed up except honey..since its not boiled syrup...but otherwise anything we eat and can be in mashed consistency u can give..including lentils..something can pancakes/idlis/dosas types they ay spit out because even if mash it still remains a bit solid, but some babies do eat them well..just be careful so they don't choke on big pieces. asked to give homemade food along with jars, just no spices yet,rice and yogurt yes.. salt to taste not much. thats info i have. exclusive inidan items i ask my cousins back home, they give cooked mashed bananas/rice and curd/dal ka paani/dal mashed/idlis..so u can try those. heard of ragi too.

Otherwise all went off well. Anu tore up the sheets of paper she was being examined (lying on) thrice..:) we including doc enjoyed watching her. Anu cried during the shots which was expected but dozed off there and was back playing after an hour. had one vaccine less since there was a shortage of it (when did vaccines go less? don't know why) but i was glad its one less all at once..cannot undersand how they do it..will have to go when supply is back up. Otherwise all well.

Sahil does not have a desi pediatrician, but his six month visit was two weeks ago and it went pretty well, ofcourse he howled during the shots inspite of all the Emla numbing cream I applied on his legs, but calmed down soon after. As usual gave him one dose of Tylenol on our return and touch wood, he did well after that. His height and weight were ok, and the pedi gave us the go-ahead to start him on cereal/veggies etc since he was exclusively on my milk until then. Did you know that exchanging an item from one hand to another is a milestone? Sahil did that in the doc's office and she mentioned it to me.
His next visit is at 9 months, in terms of recommended food it was yellows/greens/fruits/meat in that order. I am using the Organic Tender Harvest brand for him.
Other than that everything is hunky dory.
