Thanks a lot for your message..It was so discriptive.But i think i didnt make this clear.Actually i have started solids when she was 6 months and continued giving her breast milk too..now she is one year old and she is eating everything what i cook like rice dal idli etc..now she is used to our kind of food but the problem is she likes to pacify.i think thats the reason she will try to hold my breast when she is sleepy or cranky..i cant say that she is drinking my milk but i wanted to stop it as she demands it when i am out or in the car when she is sleepy..she cries a lot if i wont..she just soothes herself and goes to sleep...this is what i wanted to stop as it is difficult..i have worked before too but she was never cranky before and was used to pacifier or would sleep herself,but now she is not able too..
i wanted to make herself sleep without pacifying my breast...she does that whole day and night..this is what bothers me..and i dont have enough milk too..this hurts..
hope this time i am clear expressig my problem..
let me know what to do further..but i learnt from you that she can drink till 2 years which is nice,and i am planning to continue,as i am staying at home now..

tejmom replied. dear friend, i am v.relieved to hear that you have been weaning from 6 months. yes i understand that it is difficult when your baby disturbs u so much. its because u have been using pacifier. pacifier should never be used. when a pacifier is used or when baby drinks from bottle she develops a different way of sucking. this is called nipple confusion. when this happens ur milk secretion also reduces. so when the baby sucks he wont be getting milk. only when the baby keeps sucking from u often u get milk but you should not allow her to trouble u so much. instead of applying neem oil which is going to stop your baby from drinking from u permanently, u can put a gauze piece over the nipple seal it with a tape. [WARNING-THIS MIGHT LEAD TO ITCHING AND SKIN PROBLEM. SO U HAVE TO BE V.CAREFUL.IF THERE IS ANY ITCHING U SHOULD REMOVE THE TAPE, U CAN APPLY COCONUT OIL OVER IT BUT DO NOT APPLY ANY CREAM BECAUSE IT CONTAINS CHEMICALS AND WHEN YOUR BABY SUCKS IT MIGHT GO IN A SMALL AMOUNT IN TO HER MOUTH WHICH IS NOT SAFE]. feed her around 4 times everyday, if u feel comfortable u can give her 6 times also but other times u try following this method. u knoe something i tried applying neem oil, my son started drinking along with it though it was horribly bitter. i applied turmeric. it soiled all my nighties. my son used to get a towel and wipe my breast and then drink, finally i tried this and it worked. when u regularize this feeding habit instead of allowing to suck all the time, she will start taking more food and her weight gain will also be good. some doctors say that giving milk for 2years is one of the reason for the child not eating properly. but according to journals from indian paediatric association they have seen marked difference bet children being fed mom's milk for 2years and those not fed for 2 years or not at all fed mom's milk. they do this by taking a survey. 100 babies who r breastfed for 2years and 100 babies who r not fed for so long or v.less. and they follow up the cases till they go to school and their performance there. babies who r fed are said to have healthier life, dont fall into depression often, they study well in school, their general immunity is good and many more things. see, where all the connection goes. iam really v. happy to hear that u have decided to feed ur baby for another year. best of luck
