Hello Girls;

I am planning to join my baby into day care from his 12th month and that is when my in-laws will be leaving. I have also reserved a day care center for that. Do our babies need to know how to eat by themselves and sleep by their own before we put them in day care ? If yes, please do share your ideas about teaching these things to them.

Generally infant day care in our town has 5-7 babies with two caretakers and 1/2 assistants..and they have kids as small as 6 weeks, so i don't think they expect the kid to eat/drink by themselves. There is a long time for that. :)
We need to give them everything cereal/diaper/fruit_veggie jars/formula/breastmilk..milk u have to get everyday..but others they have proper storage shelves with babies names and record all they have to give and do give in the day. they will have their own cribs, mobiles, etc..u can send some toy they like/mobile they are used to , to get settled there.
Anu has been going half a day from FEb to April (just to get used to people there) and then full time from April..that helped a lot she got used to the place. First day full i sat with her..so she doesn't get scared with a new place and new people.
Like day care (initially didn't have faith they will take care as we /MIL does..) but it teaches them to get along with other kids/ day care ladies both grandmas so they give us tips on solids/feeds/etc..loves the toys/bouncers types there..she now has two homes she is comfortable. So don't worry..initially since now babies understand more they will be fussy..but give them 2 days they will amaze u with the way they adjust. u have to learn to let go though and trust them which will be initially difficult. Spend time with the caretakers for a day or two and let them know every detail of everyday talk..they will be ur best friends and guides.
