Hi All,

Sahil just started on about 6 oz of formula for the last four days and he has been constipated for two days! He wont drink pear juice so now the pediatrician advised on Milk of Magnesia....how did you get your little ones to take juice? If I try with the dropper he takes it, but 3 oz of juice through a dropper is seeming close to impossible.
Any ideas?

Don't be hard on urself..if u have started formula, go slow, first 2 ounces and then increase..if u still have enof breastmilk, u can still feed him will have to do it often,but maybe his digestive system can accept little at a time. One more word of caution (since i got scared once after i started formula, stools may change colour when he does have them) so don't freak out. sometimes goes greenish yellow.
I am sure sahil will be fine..don't worry..babies are very adjusting ( i feel better than adults)..isn't it..has anyone given us a smile like they do everytime we talk to them and see them...so just be patient..u can rub his tummy when u talk to him it does give them relief if he has a tummy ache.Take care.

ya its painful to see babies go thru constipation/tummy ache. Try raisin juice, soak raisins in hot water and give an ounce of juice. if u r are not too strict on sugar, adding one spoon of sugar to hot water also gives relief.
I had same problem,stopped solids for a few days till she was feeling better.
If sahil doesn't take the juice, u can give a little milk and then try to give the juice so will go little by little (if u doc allows both can be taken one after the other) or when they are dozing off, they don't crib about the taste as much, i would give my medicine to anu when she was half drowsy,she would still wake up if milk flow stopped so i would sneak in the medicine.
try different methods i am sure u will come up with something.
i have heard gripe water also helps but never tried it.
