Subject:  Hi Varalakshmi,

Well have u taken an appointment with ur gyn? coz our pregnancies are considered high risk- my gyn sent me to a perinatologist and that doctor monitors both my sugar levels and the well being of the fetus/baby. I find that they take special care. Hope u had a chance to visit them. its difficult to get gyn appts easily over here. so please take that appt and hopefully they too will send u to a perinatologist. I reside in Illinois.
You can have nuts, like almonds, walnuts etc(they say that cashew is a bit heaty) but these nuts are good specially for the brain development of the baby. I heard from few friends that u get soy granules in Indian stores which u can add to any curry it has lot of protien. Eat lot of spinach which they say is rich in iron. i'm assuming that u are taking ur prenatal vitamins. break ur meals into 3 full meals n 3 snacks. try eating small quantities.
Regarding u staying over here or going back to india is a choice u and the doctor have to make. Its not advisable to travel in the first trimister, and i feel comfortable with the medical care i get from the doctors. Y can't u call ur parents for the delivery. i don't want to scare u but one of my friend went to india for her delivery at the end of first trimister and she had lot of complications and had to deliver the baby prematurely. I'm assuming u're from south india and the travel would be atleast 17-20 hrs right. so u deicide.
I'll end now. if u want to contact me personally send me ur email id i'll reply. All the best and please do take care.

This is pearl here. Congratulations on ur pregnancy. So is this your first baby? Well let me introduce myself, i'm pregnant for the first time and due in sept. I am a diabetic from april last year.
I conceived after a long time and am really excited and worried. Since my sugar level was under control before i conceived, i'm still on tablets on the advice of my doc. i reside in US.
I usually watch what i eat and control/avoid sweets. eat salads n protein rich food. avoiding carbs as much as possible. Its good to know that i have someone to relate to. So will write more later.
bye and love to ur baby

Hi Pearl,

I am also very happy to see someone in my category. I am also keeping a good watch on my diet. My due date is on March 08th and this is my first baby.
My heartiest congratulations to you as well. To have protien rich diet, I am having egg white, toffu. I also have dhal varities..but I cannot have it in large quantities, b'cos my sugar shoots up.So whenever I feel hungry I amhaving Braccoli & Lettuce.
Can you suggest me some more varities of food with very less carb and rich in iron and protien.
FYI, I am also residing in US, Charlotte North Carolina.
I have one more question!! My parents wants me to come to India for delivery and my Diabetic Doctor is there and we know some good gynac doctors in my hometown. Mentally I will feel better when I go to India, but as far as Medical advancement, I prefer US. So I am pretty confused!! can you please suggest me on this.
