hi,
i am worried.my baby who is 5 months would not drink formula while awake,he tries his best not to drink.he would take 3 ozs and then would get disrtacted and hates it when he is forced to drink more.his daily intake is only 26 ozs now,where he used to drink 29ozs.tried feeding him while he sleeps,does not work good.from the start he used to hate drinking in his sleep.i have not really started as i did not want to crowd his formula intake.

Hi Sumi,

Welcome to the Board. I met my son's pediatrician two days back and asked her about erratic drinking patterns. Sometimes my son will take around 28 oz and somedays as less as 18. I was worried about it, but she reassured me that our little babies know their bodies and during growth spurts they will consume more and otherwise, less. Let your son drink on demand and dont force-feed him bcoz he will develop an aversion to the act of feeding. When their bellies are full and we push some more, their stomachs can hurt from overeating.
So as long as his weight gain is fine, rest easy!
