Anyone having post partum depression.
Feel like crying often, not feeling confident,
everyone seem to know what the baby mood is, what he likes and what makes the baby comfortble, when baby wants to sleep etc
I still dont really understand it all well like how some of you.
Also I am very depressed. Am I the only one?

Hi..
All mothers go thru this phase of getting very overwhelmed becoz they don't understand their baby..i didn't get depressed but felt hte pressure of trying to understand what she wants the first month. it gets crazy with all in the family trying to interpret her language..babies generally cry for their needs..if baby is more than 2 months old they have different cries and volume for sleeping/feeding/etc..just go thru the day and watch the baby and try to think before u give baby bottle/put them to sleep.
There is one book that helped me so much in trying to figure out how to deal with newborns and that is \";Secrets of a baby whisperer\"; gives u everything u need to know in trying to understand a newborn especially if its first baby..i even started telling my MIL what to look out for..it even gives tips on how to change a habit that we might have instilled int he baby (like if u want to baby to get out of the habit of sleeping in ur arms..)..damn good book...
if its ur first month, give urself a break..it will time to understand, baby takes time to understand the world around them too..take rest..first month all u should do is feed and take rest if u can..or minimal tasks..
I can assure u one thing..everything will pass..and u will one day see ur baby smiling and feel so good..keep talking to ur baby too..
Cheer up..and relax..none of us know everything, don't be scared to make mistakes..there is a lot to learn as babies keep growing..
smile /relax/have fun.

Hello friend,
I feel sorry for you. Yes I did go through severe depression for the first couple of weeks after my baby was born but then I gradually got over it and I am fine now enjoying the baby.

I don't know how old is your baby? if he/she is over 6 weeks then there shouldn't be a problem, 6 weeks is enough time I think to get a slight clue about your baby's mood but yes some take it long to understand. Don't worry, you will be fine, just enjoy being a mother and you will feel good. You can sometimes leave your baby with your husband or anyone at home and go out alone, take a deep breath and pamper yourself. You can watch a good movie, take a walk in the mall and thin positive. Good Luck to you !

My positive energies to you friend, dont worry. Nothing lasts forever...

Lakshmi
