Hope all babies are doing fine.I wanted to know one thing how much formula ur baby is taking or if u r breastfeeding can u let me know for much time u feeding and after how many hrs...

I am too much worried about arnav's feed.As he is not taking my milk for more than 5-10 minutes and he is also not taking formula more than 2 oz.He starts smiling after this much and start playing..I don't know what to do??

each babies wants are different.as long as your baby is gaining wt and wetting his diapers....u dont have to worry...
and as Radhika has rightly pointed out...babies will cry if they are hungry and they cant play or smile if they are not satisfied with their feeding.

My Pediatrician told me that they have to drink about 30-32oz a day. Either 5oz in one shot or in smaller portions.
Total is what matters he told me.

Even I was thinking of the same thing and I read that other babies of my Ayush's age was taking 6-8 ounces and I was worried as he takes max 3-4 ounce and he is 3 months already!!
But u are all right ,it varies as regards Asian vs Caucasean and they have a faster growth rate than Indian babies !!! Avi(Nov board) replied. According to an article I read this is what an average baby should consume...

They say that a baby being bottled fed should consume the following:

15 days to 1 month 6 to 8 bottles @ 2 - 4 oz
2 to 3 months 5 to 7 bottles @ 5 to 7 oz
4 to 7 months 4 to 6 bottles @ 6 to 8 oz

Now, they might not drink 5 oz's in one sitting, but they might consume 8 bottles a day which far makes up for small sippers.

Keep in mind that the above information is related more to american (caucasian & african american)babies than our (Asian) babies...

Radhika's advise was right on track.... Radhika replied. Don't worry nikki, some kids feed little but often, some feed a lot at longer intervals..
generally if anu has only 2 ounces she will ask for more after 1 1/2 or 2 hours.If she has 3-4 ounces she is fine for longer time.
have read kids have 4-5 ounces every 3 hours, but have every kid have a varying appetite...u will know he is growing fine if he is putting on weight and the number of diapers (regardless wet or poopy) a day.
Keep feedings at regular timings everyday and during feeding time esp. breastfeeding u can tickle their cheek along if they get distracted so they have a continuous feed, that helps them and us too..
