C-Section:C-section After Issues

Hi All,
My wife underwent C-Section last month.Baby is healthy but my wife reports back pain sometimes.
Is it normal? Can it be avoided? How long this will persist?

Is it a myth that after C-section mother cant perform some activities eg running, bending , playing after C-section like before delivery?

Is there any concept like Machine Stiching in C-section, which keeps the stiching area just like before surgery?

ThanksInAdvance.

Back-pain after C-section is normal to a certain extent. Get her to take as much rest as possible for the first three months. Female body goes through a lot of changes during pregnancy. Recovery takes time. Ask your wife to sit with proper back support while nursing as she will be spending quite a few hrs doing this everyday. Let her prop the baby on a cushion to the desired height so that she doesnt have to hunch over while feeding. Also get her to walk as soon as she feels upto it. Absolutely no vigorous activity or lifting weights for 6 months, which i' m sure ur doc must' ve told u. But get her to stick to it. her body will get back to normal in time. The period can vary for ppl.
I too suffered from back pain for sometime with the least bit of activity. Also i found it dificult to walk even short distances as my back would pain. but now i am perfectly fine. Rest, healthy food and gentle excercise .... things will be fine. Trust me i know ... i' ve 11 month old twin boys and i' m running after them alll the time now.

As for the scar ... i dunno abt machine stitching but modern surgical methods are amazing ... i barely have a visible scar though i believe mine was hand stitched!

In our country C-section is considered to be bad because for ages our great grand-mother and generation after that were not familiar with this concept. Biut now with improving technology its no more a big deal. A lady can start exercising after 6 weeks of C-Section, although one should consider their doctor before starting any such thing. I had C-section 8 months back and do ab-crunches and other exercises also.I too suffered from back ache, the reasons are various: 1) Spinal Anasthesia given during C-section- this pain will go away with in 1st 3 months. 2) Lack of Calcium in body- please take Iron and cAlcium supplement along with rich diet minimum for 6 months. I overkooked this and suffered from back ache for long.

Female body needs to restore all the resources used away during pregnancy and child birth.

RE:C-Section
C-sections are planned when the mother wishes to escape the labor pain or in emergencies like if the cord is entangled around the baby's neck and the baby's life is at risk. But i think natural delivery is always a better option.... - Neeta [View Message]
