Due Date Club December 2007:Its urgent

Hello Friends,

I am in my 32nd week of pregnancy. As my BP was on borderline I do a weekly BP check with my office doc. On Friday my office doc (not my gynec) asked me to go for Hemoglobin, fasting blood sugar and urine test as my feet are getting swollen continuously. At the time of test pathologist performed Mantoux test (for checking tuberculosis) also because according to him my office doc has written this test also on the prescription. Today I checked internet about Mantoux test just for curiosity and found that it is not recommended during pregnancy and breast feeding. According to different sites there is no such evidence of side effects but they say unless until required because of the environmental conditions of pregnant woman this test should be conducted by evaluating the risks involved. But my working condition, present environmental condition and my health before and during pregnancy was perfectly alright. I don’t know why my office doc has written this test. And why I have not asked my gynec before doing this. Anyone of you has any idea what will be the side effects of this test on my baby. I don’t know what to do and don’t have guts to ask my gynec also because I have done something without taking permission from her. Please help me out.

Waiting for the response.

Shweta

Hi Shweta,

Please do not worry about the test which was done on you. I really don' t know the outcome of it but you have no other choice too. Try to stay calm and enjoy your pregnancy, rather than worrying about anything that might not happen even!!! Please try to do alittle meditation everyday. This will help to relieve stress out.

Take care and Good Luck,
Jyothi

My son also had the same problem his legs used to shiver my doc said it is due to calcium defieciency b.coz I was calcium deficient. She gave him a tonic for 2 mnths it cured after that. The reason why ur baby' s leg is shivering may be this. Plz contact ur doc and take necessary steps as soon as possible.... - Sahila Gupta [View Message]

Not to worry
If you want a normal delivery, ask your doc first to try vaginal delivery if not then go for forceps delivery where baby can taken out with the help of tongs...
