Due Date Club February 2008:is flu shot safe

Name: reena my OB Gyn has advised to go for flu shot.is it safe to take during pregnancy.few of our friends told us it is not safe during pregnancy as it contains mercury in vaccine which is not safe during pregnancy.

do any body know about this vaccine.please share your thoughts.

Flushot is absolutely safe!

I already took my Flushot last week at 22nd week appt.All three types of influenza vaccine will be offered this year like Conventional flu vaccine, Thimerisol (Mercury)-free vaccine and
FluMist nasal spray vaccine.They normally recommend pregnant women not to take Nasal spray one(last one) and other two are fine.
Go ahead and take ur flushot!Good Luck..

I already took my flu shot last week when I went for my 24week checkup. My doc said that they advice flu shot for pregnant women and they had it.

Yes its safe....

Trust me the shot is infinitely safer than getting the flu. And if I were you I would go with what my doctor says and not what my friends say. The chances of the doctor being better informed are far higher. So choose wisely.
