hi archie, m from july 05 board. i saw your comments on cows milk. i was wondering if its safe for me to store it in vaccum flask just when it is warm enough for baby. i have been doing that.also i m removing the layer of creme, when it cools down.do i need to do that.i read in some website that since all creme part is removed, milk become light to digest.
also i m adding piprimul, its some kind of root pwder and said to have ayurvedic qualities to increase baby apetite and digestion, i dont knw the english name though, should i discontinue that.its been in family tradition esp for girls.
when i dont put that pwder, my daughter nirja(10.5months old) gets uncomfortable with gas.i have just started her with cows milk, i give her 4-5oz in noon i.e. only once right now..
please advice.
hows advait, he'll turning 2 now ? as such m bad in remembering bday.i hp i remrd it well.
lv to advait.
Regards

gujjumom replied. hetal its safe to give piprimul. i m gujarati and we give our kids that alot. its cool to body, increases apetite and works as a great digestive.also, if baby is suffering from any nausea or stomach upset due to some foods, it repairs it all the way.their stomach remains clean with on-time bowels.
through out my pregnancy i had it in my milk and i never have faced any problem of gas or tummy discomfort.also it boosts milk supply. i m sure the quantity that you are giving to nirja is like 1(if small pinch, then 2, approx 1/4th tsp) full pinch of pwder(fine) in 8oz of milk & then boiling it together. mostly when the creme is formed, the piprimul pwder sticks to it but for a safer side that babies dont get choked, do let it pass thru cheese cloth or tea seive. i am sure you must be doing that, thats the most wellknown way, we prepare milk for babies.
hope this was helpful
archie replied. Hetal,
you can remove cream from the milk, mainly because it won't be easier for Nirja to drink from bottle nipple with thick layer of cream. But once she turn 2 or bigger than that she takes it from open mouth cup you can choose to give cream or not depending on her choice.
If piprimul is provided all the time in your family you should have no worries. I am not familiar with it's effect or anything. If Nirja wants that you may give her.
you can store milk in vaccum flask should be Ok. If she likes you can give her large portions of cow milk and try to wean her off, it's the right time to wean babies around 1 year, soon they get to know more and will cause difficulty to wean baby.

yes,i took it too. just like hetal sai but i also added abit of cardomom in it as i had winter pregnancy. i liked the taste that way.
try it for 3 days first,if your body accepts then only take it.
anything other than your regular food should b kept in observation when taken first time, espclly when it comes to pregnancy and babies.

hi both, thankx gujju mom..i just wanted to make sure if i can give it to my little one.
poochy, even i took it during my pregnancy. i took with milk, 1/2tblsp in whole glass of warm milk with some sugar. once a day.
yes it definately cures heartburn and constipation. its available with the same name in indian store..its in pwder as well as whole form,,i took whole and grind it in mixie as and when needed for freshness.when you grind it, the pwder is stronger than the readymade pwder, so take only 1/4th tblspn if you are grinding it at home.
its said to remove all vaayu, pith(gas & heartburn due to strong foods) from every nerve of your body.thereby it boosts milk production as well.
after all, when you take it, keep watch on yourself. if you think, you are not feeling good with it, stop taking it.listen to your body signals.

hi archie, thanx. i will start cows milk 2 times from next week. the reason i was looking forward to remove the first layer of thick creme was it will be easy for her little belly to digest. also, once she is totally ok with drinking cows milk, i will prob not remove that and give it a try.i have already weaned nirja from bf.he is now on bm,formula and cows milk.
thanks.
