Due Date Club October 2003:How much milk to feed........

Name: cm Hi,

Our son is 1M and 10Days and we are trying to find how much milk we should feed him. Right now, he is drinking 4oz every 3hours. But some times, he cries just after 1.5hrs and if we put pasifier on his mouth, he is sucking very hard. If we feed him more milk, he is vomitting.

Any ideas/suggestions on how much milk and frequency?

4 oz in 3 our is very good quantity. Actually it is correct amount as far as the information I found in the net. I also heard that babies often feel like just sucking.
I guess your baby is crying when he gets the urge to suck. So, you can offer him pacifier. I do the same with my baby.My doc asked me to feed in 3 hrs gap. He asked me not feed him in between, because they will get used to small quantities. If they suck hard, it doesnot mean they are hungry. Baby must be enjoying the pacifier. As you said if you give more milk, baby is vomitting, this tells that baby is not hungry.

Hi..

I am assuming u are either pumping or giving formula since u can measure ounces..formulas take longer to digest..if he is used to breastmilk try giving breastmilk when he is hungry..if possible or maybe change to another formula with advice of ur doc..(keep one formula consistent so be careful when u change)
or maybe he just wants to suck ..
