Due Date Club November 2003:Warming milk?

Hi All,

How are you all warming your breast milk and formula? I have been warming bottle under warm tap water and then feeding her. Anyone using warmer? I have bought one but haven't start using yet. Is warmer safe for breast milk? Also, for formula are you using tap water (boiled) or bottle water?
I am thinking of starting formula soon so please suggest.

Thanks
Arshiya

Hey Arshiya, I warm the bottle by placing it in warm tap water for a few mins...
and for formula, i use distilled water which I let boil in a bottle warmer for about 10 mins...
i will have to check with the doc whether or not that is ok....

Hi Arshiya,

I am using a bottle warmer to warm breastmilk, though I am not sure if it is safe or not. I think it should be and it's very easy to use.

Niya is refusing bottle, is Ashna OK with it? Any tips on how to make her drink from the bottle?

Arshiya,

Yep, that's the one. It's the Quick Serve bottle warmer for 17.99. I guess, it's from first years and not safety 1st.

Hey Vindhya,

Is this a warmer you are using? Let me know cuz I don't think I will be also needing day & night warmer and also it takes about 5 mins to warm milk. So, I will try the one you are using.

Arshiya,

I am using the Safety 1st one that I bought it from BabiesRUs for 17 bucks. It's not the day and night one, it's for warming only. It doesn't have the feature for keeping the bottle cool.

I'll try your suggestion for giving her a bottle.

Hey Vindhya, Avi
Thanks for suggestions. Will use bottle warmer I guess. Vindhya, which brand is your bottle warmer? is it day & night one by the first years? Is it quick enough? I will also try warming breastmilk in that.
For giving bottle to Niya, try Avent thats what I have been giving to Ashna. She was initially taking it when she was very young and we used to go out a lot but lately we didn't go out much so I breastfed her totally for about 3 weeks and yesterday when I tried giving her a bottle she would take it. So, I kept on trying and she took like half an hour to drink 2 oz. and kept crying. But, finally she took it. So, I would suggest give her a bottle atleast once a day so she will get used to it and won't get much confused with your breast and bottle. I am hoping to do that for a week or so and then giving her a bottle for the whole day and I will be only pumping all the time. So, she will get used to before going to daycare.

Vindhya, Avent bottles should work cause they are as close to resembling a breast as bottles can get...

good luck and let us know if that works..

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
