You had asked about the swimming thing. I took a swimming class with Vrisa when she was 6 mos old. This was a starter class to familiarize the little ones with water. We played a lot of games, sung songs and just splashed around. The class was 8 weeks long and the age requirements were 6mos and onwards. At about 18 mos, some kids are ready for the next level class where they are taught the kicking motions and floating starting with the floaters.

I had taken the class and continued on my own afterwards until I had the bleeding in the 7th week of my pregnancy when the doc asked me to stop until the separation healed. This didn't happen until three weeks ago where he gave me the green light for excercising and swimming so we have been back in the pool. Just about a week ago she started kicking on her own and she just loves the water. So, here the docs are ok with kids starting after 6 mos. I have been swimming ever since I can remember and did a lot of competitions through college and also life-guarding, etc. My next thing that I want to do once I an back in shape after #2 is deep water diving and scuba diving. I did all that when I was a teenager and miss it dearly. I am hoping Vrisa will take the swimming genes from me since her papa is not much of a water person :-))

Thanks for the info. I'll check again with my pe'd.. Kichu loves water and so do i. I didnt get an opportunity to learn as there were several taboos associated with it back in kerala. So i need to learn with Kichu only.

And i am looking forward to this helping me get back in shape :( too.

I havent checked out the quality of kiddie pools in Hyd. will do now.
