Hi all,

Have u all registerd at the hospital yet ? Well, my doc told me to do it within a month from now. What do u all think of epidural ? I was discussing this with doc and she said epidural is good if pain becomes unbearable and she said no other effects.Only fear is blood pressure may drop...but they treat it immediately.I would definitely want to consider this......in case things doesn't go ok...Do post your views.
By the way , anyone planning to use doula services ?

Kavitha, beleive me....epidural is god=sent. I took it during my first delivery and I slept through my contractions till it was time to push. However, you do have to be careful that you are at a good hospital with a good anasthetic.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your response.
Well, what i do think is try not to disturb with the natural process of birth as far as possible. But will definitely keep my options open in case pain becomes unbearable and epidural sounds like the best option under such circumstances.
I agree with u Natasha that doctors do tell that there are no side effects. We definitely have to take feed back and more info before deciding anything.

Hi

I also took epidural in my first delivery.I had not decided before labour that I am going to take it.But I kept my option open.I told the nurse when we reach the hospital that I mmay take the epidural.when contrations were getting stonger and stonger, i could not bear the pain so i said i want the epidural. and after epidural, all pain was gone. I am definately going to it in this time.
Only drawback is that epidural may slow down the delivery process.

In my lamaze class the nurse told us that doctors say that there is no side effects but she has met some women who has back problem after taking epidural.

Anyway most hospitals wait for atleast 4-5 cm dilation before giving epidural. So you will have some time in contrations and in pain without epidural. So you can decide at the spot you want it or not.

Anyway you are going to get all information in your classes.May be then you can decide better.

take care
Natasha

Hi Dipti,

It is nice to have you with us here. Please give some more info in Epidural. As to why did you decided to take it in your first pregnancy ? Was it decided before hand or was it your sponteneous decision. What care do we need to take regarding Epidural ? Are there any, how small it may be, side-effect ?

Thanks.

Kavitha even my dr gave a positive info about epidural... just incase if any medication is needed. I hope I wont have to take any medication at all...but if i have to then epidural looks like the best option.

Hi,

We havenot thought seriously till about this. But till today we have been gathering information about epidural. I think this is the best option available if we cannot bear the pain. But I am willing to postpone taking any medicines as far as possible.

NO PAIN NO GAIN !!!!

Otherwise God knows what is in future, but I am mentally prepared for any situation.
