Due Date Club January 2005:Rishi's update

Dear all

Had been to the doc this morning for Rishi's 12 months check-up. His weight is 8kgs now where as she said normal Indian babies weigh 9+ after one year. She asked me not to worry (!!) since he had been underweight always. Rishi was super active when we were there, smiling at her and blabbering something and when i said I am worried that he doesn't response... she scolded me saying she is seeing a very normal, happy and active baby. She's given me calcium and some mutli vitamin. Need to start them. He has just two lower teeth and no sign of the rest coming out. Am not complaining though.

Heard the news of my friend at melbourne delivering a baby girl normally... was so happy for her and again got the feeling of why everyone could do it (normal) and why not me!! Neways...

Love u all, keep mailing.

So nice to hear of Rishi's update. The visit to the doc should put you to ease as well. Vrisa has always been below average in weight since she was born and still is. As long as the little ones are happy there is nothing to worry about.

I used to think the same about natural delivery and c-section. When my cousin's wife and another friend both gave birth naturally ( one with only 4 hrs of labour from when her first contraction came..) I sat and pondered about why I couldn't sdo that, too. Then, on the other hand, I am so grateful for the fact that they can do c-sections which are obviously emergency because what if they didn't do that and the something happened to the baby? So I am just glad that the advancement in medicine is there such that everyone benefits from it when needed. My second one is going to be a planned c-section as well. The research I have done on VBAC has some drawbacks that I am not willing to take the chances with. Plus this time I can get my own doc to deliver. Vrisa was delivered by a doc from the same practice but it wasn't mine since it is the one on surgery duty that particular day who will do the deliveries. So all in all, I am glad they did what they had to for Vrisa's and my sake.
Sorry for the long boring spiel. Lots of hugs and kisses to Rishi and you.
~M

Dear M
No, you did not bore me at all and it is great to hear that it is all for good, though I console myself so much. The reason for my guilt feeling is that it was me who kept on saying if only I have a C then there will be no pain. Neways, what is the point in thinking about it now? As you had said atleast we had this option.

Good to know how Vrisa imitates you. Rishi shows no sign of all that and there are just 2 teeth now, so am not worrying :)

Hey Neil is a lovely name. I like Nikhil too :) Good luck on choosing one. You have a long time for that I guess.

Take care.
Love

dear vani,
nice to know rishi's update and that all ur anxieties were put to rest by ur doc..guess but as moms getting anxious is something we do naturally..
as regards c-section vs normal guess we can hear lotta different opinions on that one and all that matters in the end is our beautiful healthy bnaby in the hand.Rishi did go thru some tough early days but now that being gone am sure he will grow into this smart dashing heartthrob and make u one proud and beaming mom..
a biiiig hug to rishi...
love

Hi Ramya
She might not be the same person you are referring to. She is there for almost 4 years now. Settled there and her husband has been in Melbourne for at least 7 years now I guess.

Her name is Deepa and her husband's name is Laxman. Do you by any chance know them?

Love to Rahul
