hello my dear friends
sorryi have not written for so long. i check regularly but haven't had a chance to write in. my little guy is suffering with a really bad cough and cold ... his nose is completely stuffed and he is very congested and has a bad cough. do any of you know of any ways of healing this ... doctors say the same thing ... to tke the over hte counter medication but that doesn't seem to be helping much. he is not able to eat, drink or sleep properly... iam very worried. pleae advice. i hope all of your little ones are doing well.

i'm a believer in naturopathy & generally try to take some home remedies along w'h small doses of prescribed medicine.
Wt i tried on tanya a few weeks back & worked was:
- i boiled some cloves(laung)& ground black pepper(kali mirch)in some water,then add very little sugar in it & give it to the baby to drink, they'll hate it & won't take more than 4-5 sips but even that helps. Try to give atleast 2-3 times i a gap of few hours.
-One fnd told me this & it did work for tanya, c if its ok w'h you before u give this to the baby. Each baby is different & maybe yours may not like it. Give onion juice mixed with jaggery(gud). Just 2 spoons of it & with the addition of gud it does'nt taste pungent.
-As everyone sd, i too use suction bulb,baby vicks,saline nasal drops are most helpful....& dimetapp,little colds or tylenol are ofcourse the medicines doctors prescribe here. Ask your Dr. if he can suggest you some inhaling vapors,or just put a little vicks in a small katori & put that on bottle warmer...its vapors spread in the room & baby can breathe comfortably in night.

rg. Sumana replied. My daughter Divya too had severe cold past few days. I asked my ped. and she advised to give Dimetapp oral drops o.8ml 3 times a day and slowly start reducing the dose once it gets lesser. Since my daughter had a stuffy nose and cold, it got better with 1-2 days time. She had no cough as such. Hope this helps.

My daughter was suffering fron cold few days back and I gave her tylenol but I know it won;t work. So I was using suction bulb which Diya mentioned..and it helps a lot for babies to breath and I also applied very little vicks (ONLY VICKS) as its not as strong as other ones) on her chest and back and also rubbed it on my fingers and made her smell that too. Though it took a while for her to get rid of this it def helped her to sleep and eat better.

Try to clear your child's nose with the suction bulb(The Blue Coloured one) that you might have received from the Hospital. It helps to clear their nose. But do not use it more than 3 times as it might irritate the baby's nostrils. But it definitely heps.
