Hi Radhika,
I have a few more doubts in my mind, since you had experienced this GD in your first preg as you mentioned and it would be of great help if somebody like you would help me out in this.

i) Was your first delivery normal or c-section?
ii) Did you deliver ur child on the day of EDD or sooner/ later? (Since I heard that GD causes pre term labor)
iii) My doc asked me to take 4 units of insulin twice a day, had you also taken this? If yes, is there anything which you would like to share regarding this? like the precautions invlovded and all?
iv)Is taking dry fruits safe for baby / me?

Awaiting for your reply.

Hi
1) I had a c-sec but it had nothing to do with GT, my pelvic bone we checked now to decide if i can try normal is shaped oval instead of normal. Then my anushka wasn' t a big baby , normal 7 pounds. I went into normal labor and did go from 2-8 cms from morning to evening 4, without any medication/epidural and had no problems..it was only when tll 12am there was no progress they decided to lessen the stress and have a c-sec.
I have had many friends who have had GT..and many have had normal deliveries..it does help more during GT becoz we do exercise well when we know we have high sugar.
2) not much sooner - my due date was 23rd, went into labor on 20th morning.
no it does not cause preterm labor- GT doesn' t..
3) i was on the borderline of 140 so no insulin for me. just diet and exercise and checking count after meals but knew a friend who used to take the injections and she and i just shared the same diet..didn' t do anything special or extra care, just means u cannot indulge in the in between like prasad from temple/people etc..it used to shoot up with any high carb but i would walk it off..urs maybe higher so the shots..so just don' t take any risks..if u do, just take a 30 min walk and test ur levels.
eat veg and cut rice/roti..is all i can help..V8 juices help a lot. i used to eat 3 bowls of veggies except corn, peas kind.., started on eggs and ate 6 small meals.
dry fruits - peanut butter is fine..peanuts are too but check the amount again..snacks i was allowed 30 gms of carbs..so for everything ichecked labels.
diabetesindia web ste is a good one to help or just google and u will get nutrition facts for every item u need.
All the best..just don' t get stressed out, that increases the hormones and reduces insulin..be calm and take it one day at a time..and walk and as u keep taking readings everyday u will come to know which has effects on ur systems and which helps.
Take care
Radhika

Sweety check what has changed in the diet..or the intervals of eating.if nothing has changed, if u can take a walk for 15 mins around the office complex or at home..will help it reduce too OR other alternative is reduce a little of the carb and increase the vegetables. Don´ t worry..your baby will be fine and healthy. Take care

I´ m really scared of taking insulin shots and more than that scared that this increasing sugar level should not harm my baby..1 hr post dinner is still below 130...whatz your idea on this...pls let me know...
