Hi girls,
Our beautiful daughter Vedangi is here, she was born on the 10th and shares her Dad's bday :)
On the 9th we had been to SFO and I did a lot of walking around. In the night at 10 I lost my mucus plug. 11 my contractions started. They didn't hurt at all, it was just like regular back pain. As much as I could, I tried to sleep through it. It was 10 mins apart and 40 secs long. At abt 4 the freq increased to abt 6 mins apart and 1 min long, so called the hosp. They asked us to come in. Went to the hosp at 7, and had an internal exam (yuck!), midwife said I was already 5 cms dilated. Continued without any pain relief for another hr or two, but by then the contractions were BAD. They hurt a lot and I was quite tired. I decided to ask for epidural. I was 7-8 cms when I got the epidural at around 10.30. After that I could rest for a while, and drifted in and out of sleep until it was time for pushing. Started pushing at 1:15 and Vedangi was out at 3:20 pm. All in all I'd say it was a short labor and didn't hurt that much (of course I did ask for the epidural in the transition phase! I am glad I did that though, coz I doubt whether I could have handled the pain and fatigue!).
Life is amazing with the newborn. Its our first baby and the whole house revolves around her schedule :-o) Love to look at her as she smiles in her sleep and yet its extremely difficult when she starts crying!!
Amazing how life changes in such a short time !!

Your birth story sounds enviable, may be I should go to SFO for a walk :)

A baby's smile is the most amazing thing I would ever expect. Please do post your little cutie's pictures, would love to see her smile.
