Hi girls,

Hope u all are doing fine.Iam not doing that much good.U girls know that i have given birth to a beautiful girl. She was born on 16th of oct(due 24th).She was 7 and half pounds.About 19 and half inches in length.

My pain started on 16th thur early morning at 1 am.I had contractions every 7 mins apart and for 60 sec.I also had bloody show..Then the time intervel gradualy increased and i had cont every 10 mins and the pain was also tolarable than early morning.I asked my hubby to goto office as the pain was ok.Before every cont i found my baby moved a lot.I read in a book that if the baby kick a lot bfore every cont then it may be in fetal distress. So i called doct and she asked me to come. When i went she checked and said that iam in labour and i was already 3 cm dialated.I got admitted at 1 pm and they gave me IV and pitocin and i was placed in a featal monitor. My doctor came and said that i will have the baby by the next day.She also said tat i can have an epidural at anytime. She also appreciated that i have stayed in house till i was 3 cms.She said that usually her patenties wants to have epidural when they are 1 cm.So iam always welcome to have an epi.She also asked me to hold without an epi as far as i can.then at 4 i had very painful cont.So thought that i must have an epi and i had one at 4:30(not very painful). Then they also increased my pitocin.the doctor checked me at 5:30 and i was only 3-4 cms dialated. But was completely effaced. She increased the pitocin and said that by mid night i will have my baby. After an epi i didn't feel any pain.I felt only a light pressure.after 1 hr (6:30) i felt that the pressure in my lower tummy increased. When the doctor checked me she said that i was dilated to 10 cms and i can push. Both doctor and me were surprised to see that i dialated from 3 to 10 cms within an hr.Then i started pushing and i had a very bad pressure in my lower tummy.after 15-20 mins of pushing my little girl was out at 6:59 pm.she could'nt breath properly as she had swollwed the first bowel. They said that she must be monitored for a day. While pushing the doctor did an epistomy and i had more that 15 stiches. My hubby was there with me and i think i could have not done without him.
We have named my baby as SASMETA(ever laughing). She is doign good but her weight is reduced to 6.13 pounds.About me iam very much in pain.the stiches are hurting a lot and i have pain all over my body.Breast feeding is very painful.i also have bleeding and crackes in my breast and i feel very much pain when i feed her.I miss my mom a lot now.I am sleeping only 1 hr daily. She is awake all night.she sleeps all day.my hubby will be awake till midnoght then i will ask him to sleep as he has to goto office.I take care of her the whole night by changing diapers, feeding etc etc and i cry in pain when i feed her.I have a ques to those who are alreay a mother will it be that painful when we feed?.I feel lot os pain at the place where iam having my stiches.I cry every min.she is sleeping now as its evening and i tried to sleep with her but could'nt due to pain.So in past 48hrs i have slept only for an hr:-(.please girls pray for me its realy painning for me.I wanted to share with all of u so that u will pray for me and my girl.hope u girls will pray for us.rest in next posting.
take care girls and all the best
with love from
kals

Hi Kalyani,

Congratulations on having Sasmeta....I hope she has begun to do well, dont worry about her losing weight. All babies lose their birth weight during the first few days and regain it by the end of the first week.
About breastfeeding...initially the baby is learning to latch on to your breast, and during this time it is normal for it to pain very badly. Over time, when both you and the baby learn the process it does get easier. Do use some cream...like lanisoh or Gerber breast therapy. The latter is a roll-on stick and hence more convenient.
Do stay strong and positive, your baby will definitely thrive and as we learn the ropes of motherhood you will be in less pain. The stitches will hurt till they completely heal and that takes a minimum of two weeks and as long as four weeks. Try Tucks Medicated Wipes to hold in the area and use Dermoplast Numbing Spray, they really help. Also ask your obgyn to prescribe Tylenol with Codeine and have this in combination with Motrin. It brings the pain to bearable levels.
Do keep us posted on how you feel and take all the help your hubby has to offer. This time is a great time to bond with the new family you have just become and sharing in the chores is a wonderful experience. Please do not cry .... we are all here for you to help in any way we can.

Take Care
Suni

Hi,
Gosh iam so saddened to read your mssg.First Congratulations on baby Sasmeta!Glad to know she was born healthy with good wt&length.Abt her wt drop don't worry with your milk&with time she will regain well since she is overall healthy.
I hope her breathing problem is under control now.
Maybe since your labour progressed so fast you are totally sapped of energy&your body too is going to take time to heal.
Mom is with me&I made her read your mssg. She has asked you to be brave&is praying for your speedy recovery.
Abt the feeding Kalyani use either vaseline or lanisoh cream for cracked nipples.Don't suffer if you r in so much pain it is either the cracked nipples or that baby is not latching on correctly.
Call the lactation consultant in your hospital&talk to her.
I hope your daughter is holding onto both areola&nipple&should be totally pressed into your breast while feeding.
Glad to know you had a normal vaginal delivery though!
Abt the episiotomy lack of sleep is making the whole process painful.
Do the sitz bath regularly&have a soft diet for easy digestion.
Always sit on a pillow esp donut shaped for comfort.
Drink milk twice a day&just hang in there until your baby develops a sleep schedule you&had hubby will have some sleep deprivation.
My best wishes with you'll&keep smiling.Happy days are round the corner&you will soon blend well into parenting.
I know you are very hardworking&do miss mom alot. But you have managed great so far things will soon settle down.Have faith!!
lots of love,
Manvi.

Hi Kalyani,
So sorry to hear about the pain you're going through but at the same time, glad to know that your baby is doing fine. Don't worry, I had a friend who had gone through the same thing as you are doing now, the stiches will heal, probably you could use ice pack whenever it hurts when you urinate, check with your doctor.

I am sure with your daughter growing up each day, she will adjust very well with the time table you are going to set and then you will get some sleep. Do keep posting your expereince, we're all there to share with you.

My Best Wishes and Positive Energy
Lakshmi
