Due Date Club November 2003:can we eat protein bars

Hi girls,
Has anyone tried eating protein bars/drinks so far? I know that intake of high protein and calcium is a must for pregnant women. But is it advisable to eat those protein bars. For me, as i'm carrying twin babies, i'm more concerned about my diet. Though i eat our regular dhal for lunch, i get a doubt whether i'm taking proper percentage of protein in my diet. Kindly advice me.

Thanks,
Shreyu

Hi! Shreyu!

I had the same question. I am a vegetarian(For protein, I eat dhal, milk, yogurt mainly) and I was not sure whether i am taking enough protein or not. So, I asked my doctor in my last Appt. regarding this. She said nothing wrong in taking them but she said she WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEM. If u read the labels on the protein bars, it says, expectant moms, nursing.....etc., should consult their doctor first before taking them.
I am not sure if every protein bar in the market has the same label but couple of them I checked have this label.
In my case I am NOT carrying twins. So, I think it is better for u to ask ur doctor first since ur case is different (I mean ur weight gain/ carrying twins etc.,).
So, my suggestion would be talk to your doctor before taking them.

Cheers,
Suma

Hello Suma,
Thank you very much for your reply. I will definitely take your advice and ask my doctor in my next appt. Hope you and baby are maintaining good health. Let me reply back what my doctor suggested to me so that you can also follow it, if its a helpful one.

Take care,
Shreyu

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
