Miscarriage and Child Loss:Miscarriaged and have fibroids
2005-04-26
Name: Am

Hello All,
I recently miscarried and was diagnoised blighted ovum. This was my first pregnancy. Very distrubed and disappointed. During the scan, they found no embyo but only the sac. My obgyn also told me that she fould 3 large fibroids. I had never heard about this before. Now she wants me to have surgery to remove them and she asked me to wait for 3 months for surgery.

I am realy confused as to what i am supposed to do. when did the search on fibroids, it says these fibroids usually come at the age of 35-40. Even my GYN said that at my age(26) it is uncommon. I feel terrible.

Any suggestions? has anyone had fibroids and gone through normal pregnancy.

please advise.

Hi Am,
I also have large fibroids since the age of 25 and 27 I had miscarriage, but doc told me not to romove the fibroids unless they are life threatening. My fibroids are pretty big about 3.5cm and otherone is smaller than that. I can understand the situation, but pls take second or even more opinions. My doc check me and said to try to conceive again...I wish the same for you. However, I am going for the second opinion aswell. good luck!
Opertions on the uterus leaves scarring in the uterus also, so check with doc for sure. Like my fibroids only give me pain a week before periods and during periods and if I lift something heavy. What about yours?

Hi Am,
I am very sorry for your loss. Don't know much about fibroids and related stuff. But will advice to take second opinion before going ahead for surgery, it will give you peace of mind.
I have done the same when had missed abortion last year, just to avoid any machinery and human error.

Hope everything will go well....
love and take care..

Hi Am
I am really sorry about your misshap.I misscarried in Jan 2005.About fibroides,my sis-in-law had at the age of 31 & she carried a good baby had successful pregnancy. Her boy is doing good & now after 4 years she is going for operation ,in her case those were too grown up & now her utrus has to be removed.I don't know about her or your extent of growth so I will say do what your Gyn says as she knows better about your case and don't worry coz I have seen some more cases where things went fine with fibroids & after operation.
Take care

Infertility is a very hard thing to hit a woman. I can't imagine what it must be like. My sister went through it. She was told that she was infertile by her doctor. Her husband was a doctor too, but besides all the knowledge they could do nothing. Then they tried going for IVF. At first they were resistant, they were double minded. But then my sister went to various fertil... - Lillian [View Message]

Hey Richa, hope you are doing well. I am sorry to hear about it.I know what you have gone through. Toughest period is when one is TTC.The worst part is the miscarriages and 3 of them makes it even more hard to cope with. I agree with your husband and would advice you to take a break also.
