wat is he taking past 4 days then,,water ???
how does he behave when you give formula ??? does he spit out, does he not take the nipple at all ?? how he reacts.

check on his weight, and keep an eye on it

wat were the solids you fed him lately, if at all, you have started them

which formula you give since 4th month.. is the brand same ! check the date of the formula on the bottom of the can/tin/bottle.discard if different. try using the other unopened pack of formula, sometimes one of the jars might be a different taste, is often a production issue !! however, this is very uncommon..but nothin wrong trying.

because there are many reasons associated with baby not taking formula, its difficult to talk about it, until the details are available.
hope you understand wat i m trying to say.

may b solids are a bit early for him. as you mentioned now that you give gripe water and after a cry ( which might mean that he gets gassy with cereal, and might not be ready for solids at 4th month)which is absolutely normal.sometimes some babies dont accept solids so early..wait and try next month...
best is at 6th month.

neways, check with your ped.prob he will do some tests or so.
take care.

when i say add more formula to cereal, i meant add the formula prepared with water(that u regularly prepare) to cereal. and not the direct pwder..
when you add to fruits, same way. also start water, as with solids, baby needs good liquid intake apart from formula.
talk to your ped about it, and also changing to soy formula might help..but ask dr about it. because you are switching to new type of formula
good luck

rice cereal might not be the cause.
try this , c if it works.
1. try changing nipple, sometimes it works.
2. your feeding cereals between feeds and solids should be atleast 2-3 hours !, like lets say you feed him cereal at 9 morning, the next feeding of formula should be somewhere at 11:30 or 12, with a complete feed.
and same continues for the whole day,
1time formula, then cereal,,,and onwards.
however it depends how many times you have started giving him solids..if its once, do it that way, try feeding cereal in mid mornings, so that baby has whole day to digest it. for 4 month old, solid is a new food and is always heavier than milk or formula !
try feeding after a while.
3. again, check on his weight.. sometimes kids dont want to drink once they are on solids,,if he eats, start offering weekly new foods, and let the cereal with formula replace only formula, if he is not drinking formula alone. i started nirja solids at 7th month, and for the first week, she just didnt want to drink bm,,so i replaced with cereal with more formula or some fruits with formula, like milkshake ! it worked for me,,,c if it does for u..
4. check on his bowel movements, colour and consistency,,,check if cereal is causing ne gas or so...
being summer time, sometimes babies intake go less all of sudden, and after a span they are hungry as if they didnt eat food for years !
wait until 3-4 days, more and keep trying,,
would say talk to your dr. because a 4 month old even with solids should be taking 24-26oz of bm or formula atleast.
take care
good luck.

ps. do let me know the cause after visiting dr.

Thanks for responding, Hetal. He does not show any interest to latch onto the nipple. I have been "forcibly" feeding him all along. Water is altogether a different story.
I have not changed the formula. I have been giving him Lipil ever since his birth and have not changed it. I have checked for the date as you suggested and it is brand new. I've started rice cereal 3 weeks ago. Do you think this may have caused ?
Thanks

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
