hi archie and others,

i am currently 20 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and live in NJ USA.My due date is JAn 31st 2007.

From my first month of pregnancy my blood report showed an elevated White Blood cell count. My OB-GYN has been routinely taking my blood test every month and here are the numbers In june- 17.6 , july- 15.7 , aug-16.3, sep-17.1 and my Hg level in june was 13.1 and sep is 11.9 . Although it is not too much , my OBG-YN and my PCP want me to go to an Hematologist for a check up. Though they feel that it coud be just pregnancy related reading , still should i be concerned.

They check for all infections and nothing is positive. I am normal and healthy otherwise until now.....I did not have any such problems in my last pregnancy.

Please help me, are there anyone with such similar situation?? I am very scared to go to a hematologist as they said in the worst senario it cud be leukemia?? I am a normal and healthy women with no proir complications....

please reply !!

some viral infections can't be confirmed by routine bacteriological blood culture. you might have recurrent viral infection that is not affecting you or baby. It's good idea to have it followed up by hematologist regardless how scared you feel.
I am not certain about LUkemia possibility.
