Can someone help me to understand him?????? I love him alot and we plan to get married and have kids but I just wanted to know how men in the Indian culture are and how they view things, because he dont really open up alot about certain issues. Hi Sarah,

I am an Indian engaged to an Indian. We both have been in the US for a long time now, and atleast I have become very openminded about a lot of issues after coming here. I am not the conservative sorts. I used to have the same impression about my fiancee. But, for the past few days, we have been living with his parents and his sister. when it comes to getting married, in India, its not just the \";guy\"; you are getting married to, his whole family comes in to the picture and when his family comes in to picture, then the guy can change sides in no time. Indian parents are much more conservative and they have a lot of expectations from their daughter in law and beleive me, when it comes to the \";guys\"; parents, the guy will want shut your mouth and just keep doing what the parents want you to do. Its just their own family that they are concerned about and Indian guys are very get very defensive when it comes to their own family. I am not even married, but, I still have a lot of issues with the whole scenario of having to live at my sister in law's place. My inlaws really good people. But, they are conservative and I have to deal with that. But, I have a lot of problems with my SIL. So, I would suggest that you need to understand the Indian culture and the Indian family structure and the role of a daughter in law and learn to be really very diplomatic in life so that you can be happy. Again, I would suggest that you get to know your inlaws before you take any further step because at some point, they will want to come to the US and live with their son. All the best to you.

Hi Sarah,
Its good to know that u r in love. First of all let me tell u about indian guys. I m not saying that all of Indian guys are wrong. but now a days majority of indian especially guys are very very good towards foreign (especially white ladies) persons. U make it sure whether he loves u or he wanna have marriage just b'cos to get a citizenship.Take his test or make it clear that aforesaid doesn't happen to u b'cos in india chances of happening that is very very high. 97 out of 100 does this for sake of citizenship or they (guy) live in fantasy. once they comes in real life things changes very fast. Since u r a lady & being a lady i must warn u about that. BY THAT I DIDN'T MEAN TO SCARE U. Think b'for taking a concrete step.

I don't think would work. It would make one have garlic breath which could be a turnoff. I strongly feel that this is the time in their life to put down Kama sutra and take up some Yoga Sutra and religious books. Maybe she becomes like him too. More spiritual.... - Kim [View Message]
