Revlon Touch and Glow Fairness Cream is a very good one. choose the one for your skin type.

priya. Jo Prabhu replied. I am a licensed Cosmetologist in California, and it is possible to lighten the skin especially on your face. I do it all the time for my own face and neck.

There are plenty of topical products such as glycolic acid (it is really not an acid just a phyto (plant derived) chemical that is incorporated in those products. It is available in various strengths and the directions need to be specifically adhered to.

You can also have a skin 'peel' performed by an experienced plastic surgeon (which I have also had) or a licensed Dermatologist. Skin peels are either performed as a dermabrasion or with a laser, although lasers are more popular these days because it is fast, and requires just a couple of days or almost no down time whatsoever. A Dermatologist can also perform a 'deep glycolic peel' which is more effective than the home based products but less invasive than the dermabrasion or the laser.

For the Glycolic products, make sure you do a 'patch test' first behind your ear or on the inside of your wrist.

In the box, you will be provided with a cleanser which removes the oiliness. Lotions are better than cream based products which can be oily and less effective.

Apply as instructed. It is best applied at night although most manufacturers also have a daytime lotion or cream that continues to work on the skin.

Glycolic products dry out the skin allowing it to slough off and 'peel'. Regular use allows you to grow a new skin which appears tight and glowing and lighter.. This process also has the added effect of activiating the collagen during the new skin growth period, thereby tightening the area and reducing wrinkles.

Be careful not to go out in the sun, or use a sun block or hat if you do. More than 10 minutes exposure to the full sun could counteract the effect of the 'bleach'.
