Hi Friends,
Padoo---thanks a lot for ur prompt rsponses about solid feeding...yes my hubby's family is from TVM, and me being from Chennai, don't know too much Malayalam...but hubby is so-so with Tamil so even before we had our baby, it used to be English, tamil, Malayalam combo...with Eng dominating the scene...so u can guess what our kiddo is going to learn...I want him to know Tamil too(wishful thinking eh??). Also there are days when I am upset for no reasons...and I vent it out on hubby, and will tend to pick some silly reason to sit and complain...guess it is part of it all
Sush...welcome back...ur cheerful e-mails were certainly missed. Glad u r back with hubby once again...hope Tia likes her new abode!
komal...some dry fruits/nuts wold some good options to take
Reena-if it of any consolation 2 u...S has not slept more than a max of 3 hrs at a stretch that 2 only if some one is sleeping beside him...Well I can't complain too much because when it gets very frustrating I hand him over to my in-laws. It helps...u might think about going to India for a few months to ur parents or in-laws place and u will feel so refreshed with the change. About eating habits...we started him on a small spoon of rice cereal on Fathers day (June 20) then for the next month I tried rice cereal with formula/bm/water...but he started refusing it after a few days...I was totally frustrated...I added marie biscuit and only if there was substainial Q of the biscuit...then when he was close to 6 months I was so frustrated that one day wile eating a banana I gae him some and he liked it...he could eat one entire banana! so I added bm, banana and rice cereal (reducing the Q of banana)...then tried steaming apple...he liked it ok, but was not too happy with his rice cereal in it...soon he kkinda got bored with it...and was refusing if I added rice...then I was feeling that he should get used to eating without sweet in his food...around that time my mom suggested giving him dal rice ( she's been telling me to do this for a while) so I tried...and added some ghee...mashed with a hand blender...he is fine with this...I now mash his fruits also with his dal rice (apple/pear) and add rice cereal. Recently I added a few peas while pressure cooking and he seemed ok...
He doesn't like sitting in his swing and eating...he even pushed the whole bowl to the floor, he used to hit the spoon, spit it out etc etc...not I sit on the dining chair and place him on the lap facing the table and feed him...I feel the feeding position also mattered to him. AlsoI feel he didn't like bm being added to his food...just experimenting so far...today he didn't like his dal rice without fruit mixed...so mixed in a little banana...so I just try out diff combo...
after more than a month of trial and error, I am now at peace(hope it lasts long) with his eating.
when I read about the goody goody cuties in this board, I feel why things are not easy for me too, but I remember reading somewhere that not all kiddos are same some are 'High need' kiddos and will have their own sweet character...so just got to pace it out and see. Now this is is sort of routine
8/8:30 wake up
8:30 BM
9:30/10 nap for an hr or so (not always...this is when I usually get my cooking done)
11/11:30 wake up, BM
12:30/1 lunch (Dal rice+ricecereal+fruit+ghee...planning to start adding some veges too)
2:30 nap
4:00 wake up BM
7 dinner (same as lunch) gotto improvise on something better
8:30/9 BM
9/9:30 sleep
This is a very approx routine...some days BM is more, solids less etc...
I have given u an outline of my son's feeding routine and habits...hope it is of some help.
Love,
Ruby
