hi archie

i am completing 25 weeks by tomorrow (27th dec 2006) and for the past 3 days i feel little contraction kind of feel. i dont know how to explain the same.

actually its not paining - but in the upper part (edge) of my abdomen i feel that some one has holded those muscles tightly for few seconds and then it is relaxed. i felt it 5 to 6 times a day.

today i didnt feel it much - i was at home for the past 3 days and whenever i sit in a relaxed position only i feel it.

actually after 22 weeks scan my scan report said that the head is lying down (vertical position) and placents is posterior - Grade \";0\"; low lying.

i am much worried abt this. i think if i am free for sometime my mind starts thinking abt this and i get tensed.

pls tell me what shd i do reg this.

archie - i am waiting for ur reply.

cheers

baby being cephalic and placenta being posterior are excellent signs and thats the way it should be though baby could change position now and get in cephalic once again before 36 weeks or remain in cephalic until birth from now.

you are facing Braxton Hicks Contraction are again very normal. No worries at all.

painless tightness or tummy or slightly painful contractions can often be BHC.
They are not meant to be appearing with regular interval and may be one day you face them more while other day none or a few.
Also if you change activity then they are expected to fade away, e.g. you faced while seating then taking a small walk would stop them or vice versa.
Remember sometime slightly painful contraction can also be from little dehydration so drinking some water or suitable fluid is a good idea when facing BHC.

Also do not get alarmed unless contractions are persistant for over an hour and they are appearing with regular interval like each 10 minutes a part and have faced six or more than them in an hour. It could be sign of labor. However, facing over six BHC sort of contractions and they appeared in less than hour and stopped all of sudden means they are BHC. This means sometime one may face them little more frequent than other time.

Facing BHC is good thing but not certainty of easiness of labor or vaginal birth. It may help effacing cervix but in some cases it may not offer help in effacement of cervix so this may not be estimated as help for labor, though in many cases its considered to be good sign as body get to know how to deal with when its real time. In some cases frequent BHC in last stage of pregnancy might help effacing cervix.

I am certain over 98% wants vaginal birth but let me tell each one that dont be stubborn on vaginal birth leave that to circumstances and hope for having a healthy baby:-) Thats all matters down the day.

dear archie

thanx a million ya - u dont know how much relief you have given me by your reply.

i thought these contractions are signs for premature birth kind of stuff.problem is i started surfing a lot and got confused because of excess information at hand.

Thanx archie. hope me and all our friends in the board have a safe vaginal delivery and pray for the little ones also to be very healthy.

Thanks and Regards
