Due Date Club August 2007:Varicose Veins

Hi all,

My mother has got varicose veins, so I had expected that even I might get them.
Today morning, I saw a slight swelling in the veins in my right leg. Though its not that visible, I am concerned, that I might get visibly uglier varicose veins after this.
I sleep with a pillow below my foot, and also try my best to sleep on my left side.
I am really concerned.
Any suggestions in order to prevent further eruption of varicose veins are heartily welcome.

Hi Renu,

Few pointers:
1. Avoid excessive weight gain, by taking regular walks (but avoid strenuous exercises)
2. Do not stand for long hours or lift heavy things
3. Do not wear tight clothing, or high heeled shoes.

Otherwise you are on the right path with using pillow and sleeping on your left side. Take care.
