I hope u R okey by now. My dr says Cramps like periods do occur manythimes during pregnancy. If ur U/S is okey, U dont need to worry. Arpana, i know even i would have got worried if i were in ur place but still just keep urself cool. try doing prayers in such times & everything will turn out okey. Eat properly take care & ask ur dh to pamper U & support U emotionally. Eventhough most of the times we feel the Husbands dont understand, they r very helping & supportive when we communicate exactly what were going through.

Subject:  Hi all, please do read this lengthy article

HI ALL I KNOW THIS IS TOO LONG & MAY BE MANY OF U HAVE READ THIS BEFORE BUT WHEN I READ I FELT LIKE SHARING WITH ALL THOSE WHO R AT MY STAGE.
Very few of us have the gift of believing that we are good enough, organized enough, wealthy enough, supported enough, and feel good enough about ourselves and our abilities to be truly good mothers. And in the society of today we have little time enough for ourselves and our partners that we can contemplate the demands of mothering.

On top of this we have the mistaken notion that unless we are able to do it all and be all things to our mates, our other children, our extended family and our community, that we have failed.

Pregnancy stresses every resource we have. Even the simplest job can take on monumental importance and effort. We have been brainwashed to believe that pregnancy should have little impact on our lives, relationships and bodies when indeed it strongly impacts each of these. It is true that each woman has her own unique adaptation but there are some universal things that all pregnant women need beyond the physical requirements.

If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to support a pregnant woman. And our society is doing a very poor job. Pregnancy requires an additional 2 hours of sleep at night with frequent rest breaks and alloted time for exercise and eating healthy foods and visits to her care provider.

The mother additionally needs time alone to contemplate her new role and consider how the baby will be accommodated into the family. She needs time and patience to nurture the other children in the home so they will gain the self-esteem that it requires to adapt to a new sibling.

She needs time alone with her partner to recommit to the marriage or partnership bond, keep communication open and just touch base every day.

She needs to be mothered, respected, supported and pampered. In a supportive community environment, her own mother would be a great mentor but today that mother may be distant physically as well as emotionally.

And women who have experienced physical or emotional hardships in their lives or are in high-risk pregnancies need this even more. And who is there to supply all of this if everyone in the family and community is already stretched to the maximum?

Yes, it is normal to be irritable, to feel frustrated and taken advantage of, and the predominant reason that women feel this way is because there is often not enough support from partners, family and community members, employers and the system in general.

The expectant mother is still a fully functioning member of the family and her community but she can only do this if she feels that she is valued.

Whenever I recommend counseling, I inevitably hear oh, its not that bad, or Im not that crazy. But I feel that a good marriage and family therapist is someone who can facilitate communication within the family and prevent serious trouble in the marriage. Sometimes, men do not understand the emotional changes and needs of pregnancy; they are often overwhelmed themselves.

If you are progressively more irritable, it is a sign that you may not be getting the support you need and I would highly recommend that you discuss this with your provider who should be able to get you a referral to a counselor in your area. This is so important to do now before your feelings of depression and unworthiness become entrenched patterns in your marriage and parenting.

Read everything you can by authors such as Bing, Coleman, Kitzinger, Simpkin and Brazelton. Klaus and Kennel have written a book called Mothering the mother about woman to woman support in labor with the use of a doula. A doula will often help before the baby is born and can put you in touch with support groups in your area for expectant mothers. Your clinic may also have notices of community support groups. These often later become play groups for the children and can help you survive after the baby as well. It is so helpful to know that you are not alone and all pregnant women are going through the same emotions.

Im sorry this got so long but as you can tell I do think youre normal but just need more support as do all pregnant women at such a time in their lives. I wish you the best.

youve a really nice name, btw nice to know youre feeling better. well regarding abdominal pains this could be due to your uterus stretching. its always better to check it with your dr as you did. In india taking pills during pregnancy is not advisable, but here the dr would suggest you to take a pill to keep food down in your stomach and also like tylenol for head-aches etc. same is the case with mangoes, papayas and pineapple. its generally advisable not to take these fruits while youre expecting in india, but here there is no restriction in your intake as long as its healthy. so just go by your instinct, if you feel you wouldnt want to take a chance then just avoid them. also just try to relax and tell to yourself youre going to be fine & the baby will be fine. hope this helps.

Hey Vidhya, did U take Lamaze classes? how was ur experience? arpana, What vidhya says is very much correct. My sis in law is dr in india & she too says mangoes r good to eat. & that i may take some medication to stop vommiting. But i was reading some books fm library where they were quite against pills. They say it is good if u throw-up. toxins which r hamful to u & babe go away. So u ve to change ur diet & eat things which u wont throw up. They say that upro 15 vomits a day is a normal case which will improve with change of diet. also they prefer external & home remedies as far as possible. eg. when i had sever cold & nasal congestion the dr asked me to get vapouriser & breathe easy nose strips instead of medication. when it happened too severe only then she gave the medicine.
Actually papaya has certain milky vitamin which good for health but it triggers some harmonal levels & so it is not prefered during preg. Anyways, there r so many fruits, so it is better to avoid it?!! And we dont eat mangoes often here so i m trying to avoid that too. i donno what medication u take but i was told that homeopath medicine is best & not harmful at all during preg. And if u have itching on ur tummy that is great as ur baby is getting lot of hair...Just enjoy each moment & keep relaxed. Do u go for walks/?

Arpana, do U take coconut water? try to take 1 each day before afternoon it will be good. also milk is the best remedy to acidity. eat icecream, kulfi or milkshake everynight. My cousin tried this & she was much better. Also ur on medication for 1 month. Try to stop & see a few days. before 1 month we all were in vomiting stage but now it has reduced anyways.

Hey Arpana,
We understand you and the situation U r in. It is always painful when lots of problems come at a time. First thing is take it easy and just stop worring.. What nikki and Vidhya says is absolutely correct. U eat lot of stuff which is cool for stomach.
This time U should not get disturbed with such things, talk to friends, try to talk to ur husband also. Nothing is extra ordinary for U. Every girl going thr this will have some problem or the other.. If not health, some mental pressurs, Family problems etc.. We always feel that god has given ME on Me this bad time ...
But dont think that way. My sister in law had lots of prob like Low BP, Dibetis etc when she was pregnent. On top of it her mom was not well ..
she went thr hard time......
So pls do not worry.. and try to consult doctor for the health and also try to take ur husband in to confindence.
He is a father.. he should be aware of ur mental situation at least.
Take care

Dear all,
Hi! I just joined in. I am also expecting
for the second time. I too am due on 15th September.
I have a son aged 4 yrs. My first preg. was not so bad.
I was able to eat everything and anything.
Now, somehow, fruits put me off. I know they are good for you
and the baby, but my stomach starts churning the moment I have an apple,
or orange. Do ask if you need any help, I am experienced.
I had more nausea this time and am waiting for my baby to be born. I am in Mumbai. So, everytime I have Bhel, Ragda pattice etc. I will definitely
remember you all.
Do keep in touch.
Take care everybody

Hi all,
Long time no see! I think everyone is feeling better as time passes. I am getting headache since a few days & it doesnt go untill i sleep continously 2-3 hours without being disturbed. And sleeping is another prob. I cant sleep that good even at night. Anyone has this, any suggestion? Vidhya & Priya how r both of U? Enjoying the spring? Ive started going for walks regularly, it remains sunny whole day untill 7 so its good weather now. Touchwood there was no rain this week. Hey anupama, Lucky U. But dont worry, looking at the poor market conditions here, i dont think we will be away from India for much long. Priya what do U say?

Hey Nikki and others
Today I had the ultra sound. It was very nice to see the baby inside. It was moving a lot..
Everything came out to be normal. So nothing to worry now
I am also having headache sometimes. Doctor said that I might be hungry at that time and dont understand. It is natural also during pregnancy. So u try to see if that is ur problem.
I am slowly looking pregnant
My SIL was here the other day so we had lots of fun with her.
Welcome Anupama, Really as Nikki says it wil not take a us a long time when we will be back to India.
I am glad and happy that U already have one kid. We can take lots of experienced advise from U.
Oh yes ! tomorrow is friday and weekend !! Wow.. I was just waiting for it !!
Have a good weekend girls.
Takecare

Dear Priya and Niki,
Hi! Good to know you read my mail.
Priya, great to know you enjoyed a little wondourous
moment with your baby during the U/S. Bet you are still thinking
about how your baby looked during the U/S. Here in India, U/S is done only
when the doctor suspects something is wrong etc. I had it only when I went to
the doctor for the first time. My DH and son Shanthanu were with me. My son was
thinking that we will be getting the baby home on the same day. Then he saw how tiny
the baby looked only about 8 weeks and dropped the idea!
He is waiting for the baby and wants a baby sister and not a brother.
Even I am feeling better now and eating larger portions.
Hopefully I have gained a bit of weight since the last visit to the doc.
I really have no problem getting sleep because I am so exhausted
with looking after my mischievous son and the routine housework
that I fall asleep the moment I am in bed.
We have just got a new house a 1000 sq. ft, big by Indian standards
so I am busy setting up place and decorating etc. I am more tired nowadays.
bye for now. All the best Priya, why dont you try taking a after dinner walk or something
so that your mind and body is relaxed so that you can sleep better?
Take care.

Even i am waiting eagerly to see the babe. I am planning to know the sex of the babe too. One of my school friend in mumbai has got a 3 yr old girl & recently got a baby boy. I feel she is so lucky to have done all that so soon. I feel same for U Anupama. Ya the headache went on its own by night as i started eating & eating. May be hunger. I ve started feeling very hungry nowadays. My dh has been readin the book babyhood by Paul Reiser. If u get a chance do read it. It is real fun!

yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Good Gynae in Dwarka
Hi

I am new to dwarka and want to know if there is any good doctor having her clinic here (I expect them to be visiting some good hospotal).

I know some good doctors in gurgaon like Dr Chetna Jain (Columbia Asia), Dr Manvita (Max).

but can anybody suggest someone in dwarka as gurgaon would be far for emergency situations.
