Miscarriage and Child Loss:Missed Abortion-Milk dropping

Hi Archie,
I had missed abortion in 8th week of pregnancy and had D/C on the 17th Jan.I did'nt have much bleeding though I have little dense stuff coming even today.I have main concerns Plz. try to answer all. There are 3 concerns :-
Q1.
Yesterday my milk kept oozing for 5-6 mins.Today I am having a piercing pain in my left
breast. Is this normal then will the milk dry itself or I have to take it out through suction pumps. It would be naturally taken care of or can lead to some physical problems.

==============
Q2.
Secondly,I have severe pain sometimes at night on my lower back and sides of lower abdomen. Its literally unbearable.I took 2 tablets of motrin and hot bottle which gave little relief. Is it normal and everyone has it. When I asked my doc. she said its due to induced medicine to contract my uterus. And I have no idea till what time would I bleed. At times I don't find my doc.convincing as she takes everything very lightly.
===============
Q3.
Since, doc. said I lost my baby due to chromosomal
abnormality,it could have been due to hormonal imbalance. I have Acne and abnormal hair growth on chin etc. So,should I get hormonal check up before planning next pregnancy.Do I need to go to endocrinologist?
Though I know it can happen with anyone irrespective of any imbalance or defect and 1st abortion is not something to be taken as a serious warning about your system.
But still I wanna know,What all tests do I need to get done to make sure we leave no shortcomings from our side.
All the help, advice and experiences would be highly welcomed as I don't have any idea about the physical aftermaths of abortion.Emotional, I am trying to cope.

Dear Emrald,
How sad it had to end this way. I am sorry for your loss.

to answer your first question:
I don't think you need to pump milk, you won't produce milk at this stage of gestation. It's lacteal secretion not real milk. In event it gets serious see your Dr. It's supposed to subside on it's own in a week(s) following mishap.

Second question:
pain is due to induced uterus contraction. By this hour it might have been stopped or got mild. If you experience over a week call your Dr. otherwise it's OK.

third question:
Chromosomal abortion/missed abortion/chemical abortion are types not necessarily linked with your concerns. still to keep your mind at ease do progesterone, hCG, FSH, LH and Androgen tests, wait for about 4-6 six weeks from D&C date. I would however won't get in to battery of tests at this stage.

Wishing you courage to cope up situation and luck for next pregnancy.
Archie

Hi emrald
I am sorry about your loss.I had my d&e(similar to d&c)on 13th Jan.I had bleeding till 18th & then thick dark broun but light bleeding till 23rd.My bleeding stopped then but again on 29th eve I had little spotting.I called my Doc & she said its normal & not to worry. If the bleeding is heavy or the brown discharge is too thick & giving you intense pain, you should go to the doctor.Do not exert yourself & take good rest.
Take care

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear abt ur loss.
If I'm right loss before 3rd month is called a miscarriage, so urs would not be called abortion.
Q1:
Pls do not take out the milk. It will inturn increase the milk flow. Ask ur doctor for an injection which dries up the milk. ya, when milk comes out, it pains very much.
So pls consult ur doctor for the medicine.
Q2:
I don't have any exp in D/C as I had delivered through labour. can't help in this matter..if ur doc is not tht helpful, u can always go for another doctor as u would want a good doctor for ur next time.
Q3:
did ur doctor test for chromosomal abnormality? harmonal imabalnce doesn't have any link with chromosomes. So u shouldn't worry abt harmonal imbalance. But there r some tests which u can do to be on the safer side.
A doctor is a best person to give such serious advises keeping in mind ur medical health and all histories. So my suggestion would be to search for a good doctor for ur next time.
I had an idea tht after D/C such dense stuff should not come out. Pls consult a good doctor and write back.

Good luck and take care,
karuna
