Due Date Club January 2006:Sleeping positions

First of all my warm wishes to all the Moms -to -be,
Currently am, 12weeks pregnant!! and very much excited as all of you.
I had a quick question regarding sleeping positions...I learned that sleeping on your left side is the best position during pregnancy; I tried sleeping this way, but I wake up with a aching left side...Of course this lasts only for some time...its gone after I am up and on my toes...
Someone please advise...
regards

It is possible you are straining yourself while sleeping on the left because it is new to you. As a start, when you are on the left, put two pillows against your back on the right side. That way you will get some support for the back. Once you get used to it, you can take out the pillows. My doctor said that even sleeping on the right is fine.

Once you are in week 20 and beyond you might automatically prefer the side position since it gets uncomfortable to lie on the back.

Sleeping on your side(ideally on left) is the best position. This position will allow maximum flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta, while minimizing the amount of pressure on your low back. Though this position may feel a little uncomfortable the first few nights, you will eventually get used to it and will find that you fell better in the mornings.

Sleeping on your back not only puts a significant amount of pressure on your low back (which can lead to back pain), but also may put pressure on your intestines, and the blood vessels in the surrounding area. In addition to causing or aggravating back pain, sleeping on your back may lead to such things as hemorrhoids, indigestion, poor breathing and circulation and low blood pressure.

Have any of you pierced your baby´ s ears?
Have any of you pierced your baby' s ears? Where did you get it done? Were you able to change the earrings after the piercing and put on indian ear rings? My pediatrician does not do it, and she suggested that i take tanvi to the mall. Pls share your experiences at the mall if you' ve had any.

Ear piercing
My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it. My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.
