HHi Guys,
Thanks a lot for all your wishes. Me and the baby are doing fine. We have given the name Tavish which means heaven or heaven like. Sorry for posting this so late I came to home this monday only.
My labor experience was totally different then what I had expected, so guys do not go with preset mind about your labor.
It all started when I went to shop something in Bed bath and beyond for dhantradas. As I entered the store my water broke. It was huge amount of water so no doubt about it. Then I went to emergency immediately with my friend. My husband was on his way to Austin from houston. I was not having any contractions at that time and then in the hospital they put me on Pitocin coz in water break they cannot wait more. The contractions started and the whole night passed in the morning at 4:00 I was only 4cm dialated. I was not progressing coz baby's position was not good. At 4:00 baby's heartbeat started to fluctuate a lot then the doc put me on internal fetal monitor as well as contration monitor coz she wanted to know how strong my contrations are and why am I not progressing. she said that she will wait for couple of hours and if I don't progress then we will go with C-section. She said this to my mom and hubby. I came to know this after the delivery. I had decided not to have epidural but even if I wanted it I could not have it because doc told my hubby that when baby's heartbeat fluctuates that much it is risky to give epidural. After sometime they checked me again the contractions were very strong but the baby's heartbeat was dropping with each contraction. Then the doc said that the umblical cord is around the neck and we have to go with emergency C-section and that she can't wait for more time. This started when my contractions became very strong. At 7:45 I went into OT. My hubby was alongside me and at 8:05 Tavish was born on 24-oct-03. The voice of his first cry was so awesome to the ears. He is doing fine. He is a small cutie pie. The doctor confirmed after c-section that the cord was around his neck and with every contraction it was getting squeezed and the oxygen to the baby was reducing.
So guys just don't go with any preset mind whatever comes just take the best decision which wud be good for you and the baby.
Time is flying. Breast feeding is going fine. All the best to all of you. I got really scared at the time when they told me about the cord but I am feeling good that we did take it nicely. The final hours were sure nervewrecking but in the end everything turned out to be fine. I am feeling so bad about Deep coz her's sounded like the similar case. I wish and pray for her and hope she will be strong enough to come over this shock.
One more thing I wanted to share, the Sunday before the delivery i.e. on 19th Oct, I could not feel baby move that much so, I called emergency and immediately they called me for monitoring. Everything turned out to be fine. I would just recommend everyone on the board to monitor fetal movements closely and do not be hesitate to call your doc or emergency.
Also, please have your hospital bags ready, (dads have the camera etc. etc. ready). Mine was and that really helped me.
Soon, I'll post pictures of Tavish on our group.
Take care
