Thank you everyone who put forward their views. I'm not a big fan of Egg plant but ocassionaly i'll try it. I dont believe in myths myself but surely i can retrain myself from eating this particular food for the next 4 mths.

My doctor advised me of the same too. There is no harm in this vegetable!

Thanks again for all u're help everyone!

Oh Yes.. absolutely!!!
egg plant and papaya should both be conciously avoided throughout your pregnancy..
the seeds of both of these contain abortive properties..
so, say a big NO-NO to both of these..

Hey Archie,

Its really okay...
coz i havent read this anywhere either... however, i have been time and again advised so by elders in the family..
since, nobody wants anything to go wrong with either their pregnancy or their baby, i think sacrificing a food item for sometime wont be too much of a pain for any mother-to-be...

Rest depends from person to person..
Regards,
Manvi

Please don't get me wrong Manvi, I would however love to read about the "books" you are referring about Egg plant being a carrier of "abortive properties for pregnant women".

Praneet to my knowledge it's one of the regular vegetable can be consumed. Of course no one is supposed to eat anything beyond the limits so that be fruits or vegetable. I know sometime too aged egg plants can lead to "heartburn -acidity", besides that I know nothing wrong with egg plants. I ate plenty of them when I was pregnant with Advait and he was born 2 days after EDD:-)

Most importantly one should not go by myths, unless your mind also hols negaitve about some myth. In that case you should avoid but not to come up with such concern to bring doubts in other's mind. If you really are concerned you should get checked from your OB or nutritionist who will advise correct and perfect to satisfaction.

Sorry Manvi your sentence, "so, say a big NO-NO to both these.." made me write in detail.

Archie

Praneet,

I am in the 21st week of my pregnancy & ever since I have been diagonsed as pregnant (end of 7th week) - I have been relishing egg plant dishes. My mother had it too while she was carrying me :)

There is no harm as far as I know.I am perfectly healthy.

Love n Care,
Anu
