Assalaamualaykum. (i forgot to say that in my last post.
Brothers and sisters, please do not take offense at the way i write. We need to be clear about the \" Special\" days in our religion. We make special, what Allaah The Most Highand his Messenger (peace be upon him) made special. We have the Quran and the Hadith with the understanding of the \" Best generation\" of people, whom lived along-side the Messenger (peace be upon him). There is nothing of evidence in relation to fasting the whole month of Muharram except for the fasting of the 9th and the 10th!
The feeding and giving drink to the people as a reminder of the death of our beloved Hussain (may Allaah be pleased with him) has nothing to do with the significance of muharram.
Yes, we all, from ahlus-sunnah are very saddened at the events which took place with the beloved grandson of the prophet, but we are not to go and make \" Special days\" on our own whims and desires. Why do we not commemorate the martyrdom of Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) or the martyrdom of Uthmaan (may Allaah be pleased with him too)?
These people have great great virtues too!
We should always remember the sacrifices made by those who preceded us in this beautiful religion of ours, but we stop where Allaah and his Messenger stopped. May Allaah guide us all to that which is the truth and that which is pleasing to him.
