Hi All. I'm sure most of you would have shopped for baby already, unlike me! Anyways, in case u didn't already know, here are few tips to keep in mind.

Tips:
Stick with all-cotton or cotton blends, which are soft and easily washable.

Check labels for the phrase \";flame retardant.\";

Don't dress your baby in items with strings (like hooded sweatshirts with drawstrings); these can twist around little hands, fingers, toes, and even necks.

Buy tops with generous head holes so that dressing your infant is easy for you and comfortable for her.

Check regularly for loose buttons, which pose a choking hazard.

Avoid clothes with decorative items like beads or ribbons, which are tempting for little hands. If they come loose, they present a choking risk.

hey simmi..
Thanx for this info. I have not bought anything for my baby yet ( due in another 25 days)..i borrowed my sis-in-law's baby stuff...as we have a tradition to first put the baby in used clothes and not new ones.
\";wonder if there is someone who belives in this\";...but i am getting so damn superstitious abt everything that i dont want to put up a nursery or set the crib till I hold the baby in my hands.
Anyone out there as \"; physco\"; as I am
vidya

Hi Vidya. Yes, even I have got superstitious about getting anything for the baby but the rule applies only to mums! So my mum and others are doing the buying thing for now. As soon as the baby arrives, I will actively get to getting things immediately. But have to have something to take with me to the hospital so whatever I have got, hasn't been bought by me. But since u have borrowed clothes, that is fine too.
Take care.

Hi there Simmi....thanks for the info......I only bought a few clothing essentials like onesies, blankets, socks, caps etc.and have yet to wash them...

and except for making sure they were all made of cotton, I didn't pay any attention to the other precautions mentioned in your message..will surely pay more attention now..

have a question for you.... how come you said that baby clothes aren't suitable for a dryer?????? I was planning on doing it unless otherwise directed by the label...

Hi Avi. Glad u found info useful. Well not all baby clothes are unsuitable for dryer, but the winter clothes, like sleep suit etc say on the label, no dryer! When asked in store they said risk of shrinkage therefore if u use a dryer u can't return them etc. Well, may try cold cycle on the dryer, and hope it don't destroy the clothes. With winter rain here everyday, drying them naturally would be real hard work!
Anyways, u might night have the same predicament with better weather there!
Take care.

All's well Preethu. Two more weeks at work and then some time for rest! I agree we ought to wash everything before first time use, however, with winter and rain here, I am finding no time to do that. Specially as most baby clothes are not suitable for the dryer. So hoping for some shine soon...to help organise everything in time and PACK..haven't done that still!
How are you doing with ur packing?
Take care.

Diaper Service Provider,Bangalore
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
