Hi Reena
I didn't ferberize Diya per say but I took a step back when she cried out of tiredness. Some days she'll sleep on her own. Some days, I nurse her and then she'll become drowsy and I'll put her down. Some days, she'll be all wired and won't go to sleep either ways. On those days, I'll take her to my closet where it is dark and walk around with her on my shoulders for 10-15 mins. If she is still pushing her legs on me and turns around as though she will miss a thing if she goes to sleep, I'll turn in her mobile and put her in the crib. She'll play for 10 mins and then cry for me. It is not a real cry. It is like where are you people! I want to play now. I'll try to keep her room dark except for the mobile which casts an illumination on the ceiling and wait for 10 mins. After that, I'll go and pick her up and she will bury her face on my shoulders and I'll pat her while rocking. Most of the days, this will make her sleep. But on some days, she'll start looking at her dad who'll play with her only at that moment and then I'll have to start all over again. This certainly helps us.
Why are you even asking about sending me an email. I gave you my email id long time ago. Fell free to ask any questions. I have read about ferberzing from some moms out of desparation and it seems to have worked for them. If you want to check that, go to January babies in babycenter, com(under birthclubs).
I have only one question for you though. Was he sleeping better before going to SFO. If so, it takes a little while for them to get back to schedule. It took Diya a month to get back to her normal routine after our trip to Chicago. Still, it will be really bad if you don't get any sleep in the nights.
Diya's nightwakings became bad last week due to a growth spurt and is still not good. Even though, she went back to sleep after feeds, I couldn't because my body was used to waking up so many times and I was so snappy. Only last night, I slept a little better even after feeding her and that is why I was even able to post. Sorry about the long post
Take care
