Due Date Club November 2003:Fish for Non-Vegetarians

Name: Avi

I heard that eating certain kinds of fish(ones that contain omega-3 fatty acids) is good for the baby's brain development and from 5th month on is when his/her brain begins to really develop.

Does anyone know what kind of fish contains this omega-3 fatty acid. I myself dont like eating meats or fish too much but if its good for the baby then why not.

I also read that since certain kinds of fish contain more Mercury and should not be eaten.

Hi Girls
I am from the Oct Board.
I am a veggie so I donno abt the diff kinds of fish. For girls like me I suggest to take a supplement of FishOil, its over the counter so as ur doc and then take it.
Yes, Avi its great for baby's brain developments and can be taken from 18th week onwards till we stop breastfeeding. Fish and FishOil contain EPA and DHA key nutrients for Brain functioning.
Enjoy ur pregnancy

You are right. Even my doc said she would not prescribe it but there is no harm in taking them. But she did ask me to check if omega-3fatty acids is already in my prenatals. Can you please tell me the brand name & the composition you are using?

Hi,
FishOil Supplement is not prescribed by the doctor. I asked him if I can take and he said its no harm, but he cant prescribe anything other than prenatals to a preg woman thats by the rule. They r very particular in US abt prescription drugs. So consult ur doc and then take the supplement.
Yes, I too take prenatals and Iron,Ca etc this is separate.
Good Luck with ur appt

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
