HI all US moms,
has anyone applied for ther baby's PIO card. If os what all documents did u send and how di du go about it.
Doing it for megs today and very confused.

komal sush replied. hey we applied it thru' NY & they took the same time tho' we had to follow it up w/phone calls & they actually give you I think the next day if you give everything over in person...so welcome back to NYC if yu want to do it ASAP !
Start doing it soon since in case they want some other stuff,they may return the documents & phir se bhejna wala chakar takes time but it definetly isn't too much of a hassle .
You can also call them up fo rbetter confirmation of teh stuff to be sent.
BTW My dad had found out(he was here that time) that the ADC/officer in charge is a naval chap..so try using ur fauji connections to sweet talk & get the stuff done out more smoothly. swathi replied. Hi Komal,

First, congrats to you on the photo contest ie great!
We got our PIO cards after 4 weeks of applying, so it is better to apply soon. we sent copies of US and Indian passport(notorized) didn't send the originals.
copy of birth cert(notorized), utility bill (they told us to send it for proof of residence) and fee.

I too recd Yash's PIO Card within a week of sending.
I had to send it to Chicago Consulate.
The docs that I sent were :
Fee
MIne and Hubby's copy of passport.
Baby's birthcert
4 photos
Baby's original passport ( you need to sign the passport for it to be valid, just in case you have not done that already)

And a stamped self addressed return envelope.

The form is very confusing, they are not very clear on what they want and what is not needed .... hope I have not confused you more, since PK had not sent baby's original passport, but I did.

We got it for Smriti. We have sent mine,my husband's and her notarized passport copy, her birth certificate (they r not asking it) copy of our green card (They asked this wehn I called them and money order for the fee. We got it within one week.
