hi all,
krish doesn't drink formula just couple of ounces even after 3 hrs. i clled his ped..they wanted to see him that he is gainning wt or not.so i went to see them ...his wt is 18.5 ounces. he gained 2 ounces in 2.5 months. below avg:(

i told them wahtever im feeding him...said keep going this way..and bf is the option for him becoz he doesn't like the formula. just keep try.
i want to wean him graduly. so after it won't be problem to wean him completely but now i incresed bf.
actually he is very active...burning lot of calories. doesn't eat well. my whole day goes to feeding him ...still not getting good result.

what u guys says?
what u all gives in 3 solid feeds?
plas let me know ...it would be really helpful for me.

sweety

Hi Sweety,
I know how it feels as Arjun doesn't like formula. He used to take it fine until he was started on solids. I think babies who are used to breast milk get bored of formula. Here is what I do - I breastfeed him full stomach at 5 and then at 7 am. He wakes up between 7 and 8. I breast-feed him a little after he wakes up then at 9 give him rice cereal with juice as he wouldn't eat enough if I give him rice cereal with formula. After 5-10 minutes of this I give him 1 ounce of formula and off to work. During day-time whenever he is thirsty he is offered one ounce of formula instead of water. he has his lunch around 12:30 and dinner around 7. His biggest formula feed is usually at 3 pm and thats usually 3 ounces of formula as he wouldn't take more. I breast feed him once I reach home usually at 6 pm and then at night before bed at atound 8-8:30 pm. You can try offering him formula first when he is thirsty instead of offering water as that may help. If he likes solids, try increasing his intake.

Sweety,
Krish must be around 9 months. gaining 2 pounds in two months although sounds not impressive but it isn't that concerning either. I have been through the same. Advait hardly gained weight during this period.

Don't think of weaning right now unless you plan to get pregnant immediately.

try to nurse him and feed him. Let him get comfortable with foods other than milk. Soon in three months you will be able to offer him whole milk and you can think thereafter weaning, no matter for what reason you want to.

Increase to number and amounts of solid servings.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
