Breastfeeding:expressing milk

Name: Mom

Hi,
Today I hope to be a lucky day since i came to know about this site, when i read the suggestions i couldnt stop appreciating all the mothers who have been helping other worried mothers..
i want to be one among you and waiting for a suggestion..may be this may seem silly to you but my problem is that i fear of expressing my milk and giving my baby..Now my baby is 6 months old and i have been feeding her for the past 6 months directly..But now a days i find that my milk production is decreasing as my baby is not drinking as much ,as I had started solids to her..
I can forcibly make her drink formula about 2 ounces but not my milk. (for not more than 3-4 minutes)..I dont understand whether my milk is enough for her or not..So please suggest me whether using a pump now is fine or will it make worse..
One more question!! How many ounceof milk shud a healthy baby must be fed for every feeding..
Hope i was clear in telling my problems..so please do suggest me with a way which can get rid of my worry soon..
Thanx

Dear Mom,
From what I read in your message: There is nothing to worry about. You have started solid so that's why your baby doesn't consume much milk from you and therefore your milk supply is decreasing. It's very natural for you to worry but if your baby needs more, she will take it. there are days when babies don't want to eat solid and just want to be breastfeed and that is normal too. Your milk supply works on demand and supply method so don't worry as long as your baby is gaining weight ok.

Also don't worry about counting how much milk your baby should drink. Every baby's capacity is diffrent. If you have doubts always ask your pediatrician.

Hope this helps you.

RE:Adult breast feeding
I was not breastfeed in my childhood hence the idea of sucking and feeding from a woman's full, engorged breasts has infatuated me. It is a fantasy that drives me wild like nothing else, just the thought of laying my head in a woman's lap while she brings her swollen nipples to my mouth. Ideally, I'd like to finally explore this with the right female. If you are in or near... - Sanjayhyd [View Message]
