Due Date Club July 2005:Arjun's update

Hi Everyone,
Its been a while since I've written to you gals but today being Friday, I decided to take some 5 minutes to write to you as I've been thinking about it since quite sometime and visting the board every once in a while.
Looks like all the babies are growing well and all of us are enjoying our moments with them. Going through the posts I saw a lot of posts on food realted stuff and would like to thank you for all the useful information I could gather.
Arjun is going to be 9 months on April 8th and I feel a bit pride for sailing through all these months with little hiccups here and there. Arjun has been very alert and most of the times, he is on treasure hunt and above all he doesn't need our help at all. He has become very self-confident and thinks that he can take care of himself very well (isn't that kind of rude?) and doesn't need us anymore other than for those night wakings when he wants to go back to sleep and need my help. He doesn't like to sit in our lap, wants to be down crawling or tryingto stand up all the time. Once he wakes up, he doesn't want to be in the bed even for a minute. He is fed up of his toys as he can reach and touch more interesting things nowadays so we decided not to buy any toys for him until he grows up and demands some. He loves books, specially all the pictures in them and yes there also he doesn't need our help, he can flip the pages all by himself. I feel like I am becoming a mute spectator nowadays watching him having fun.
As far as his growth is concerned, I feel he is grwing like a normal kid but his dr will tell better in his 9 months appointment. He is on three times solid feeds, breaskfast (cereal with formula/juice) , lunch (cereal with veggies) and dinner, fruits ( sometimes + vegies). During day he is formula fed and evenings, nights and early mornings breastfed. I don't express milk at work anymore due to my busy schedule so he is weaned off of breastmilk for day feedings. He takes ok amount of solids and when not interested will say na na na na ( means no) or throw off the stuff. His intake varies everyday and so as his food interest. He loves water so we have started introducing him to water sports on saturday mornings and he loves that, I think thats his best part of the week and ours too - kind of a family time spent playing with water.

When he sees me he says mamma, mamma and the moment I reach home, I am supposed to cuddle him for good 5 minutes. One day I forgot and went to get some water and he cried like hell with big big tears coming down from his eyes. I am supposed to feed him after the cuddle and read him books until he is ready for his dinner. His dad is supposed to show him morning sun after he wakes up or if sun is not there at least something outside, once he wakes up. If we don't do all these, he gives hints that we should do that. For ex: he'll keep staring at his books, if I am not reading those to him, he'll point his hands towards curtains if his dad is not showing him outside etc. etc. Its quite fun to watch him. When he is taken out for strolls, he will watch all the older kids intently and when someone says hello to him he gives them a big smile.
So much to write about him that it may take me hours than just 5 mins so will stop here asking others to share their baby joys with me and Arjun.
And yes a bug Hello from Arjun to all his friends.

cheers
Arti

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

HI Gayathri,

I used the puzzles, the wooden blocks for alphabets and numbers.... - Sheetal [View Message]
try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
all the best... - Manju [View Message]
