Dear Niki,

I am from Mumbai and am expecting for the 2nd time.
Due on 15th Sept., but doc says D-Day may be in last week
of August-1st week of September.
For the Indian climate, cloth nappies are much more hygienic and
cheaper. We use disposable diapers only when going out or when
protection is needed for a long time when there is no scope for changing
the nappy.
I believe in the U.S., what with carpets etc., you have to put disposable
diapers for the whole day? Cloth nappies ( cotton ones) let the skin breathe and
hence there is less risk of nappy rash.
You can probably put on a cloth nappy and then put a plastic underwear on top so that
your carpets dont get soiled and your baby is comfortable too.
Here we normally put \";langot\"; for the initial 3 months at least and then turn to diapers or
cloth nappies. But if it cold over there then \";langot\"; will be of no use.
Nothing else. All the best to you.
Take care.
Anupama

Hey anupama read ur message. Actually even i think i will try to use both as & when needed. my mom has also got som langot fm india. Here it is not as difficult to use washable diapers as they r made of waterproof cotton. Also the matterss, mattresspads etc r all waterproof so not a big problem for carpet. But i guess major prob is when u feel lazy to clean the diapers & laundry them. Anyways, the disposable ones r papermade & most of babies start getting rashes. Also as it keeps very dry the babies here dont get trained for toilet etc untill they turn 4 or 5 years which is also not very good. Anyways, lets see what happens.....All the best to u too.

Disposable diapers are mostly used. There are cotton onces avaiable, which are also disposable. I shall ask my friend and let you know the specifications.
She also asked me to buy diaper disposal.. so I bought one.

Disposable ones are always better, but it only adds to your cost. If that is not a problem, then go ahead with disposable ones....

Just to ease you a bit. I buy diapers for my sister-in-law's kid who is 4.5 months old from a friend's friend type who sells them on a kg basis.

He charges 150/- per kg which easily accomodates about 20 diapers and they are very much equal to the quality of branded ones.

Lemme know if that interests you to buy.

By the way, are you from Bombay, India??

Hey Irene, Thanks a lot for ur suggestion. My home town is Mumbai but I am in atlanta Georgia9USA) at present so i think geting diapers fm ur friend wud be difficult for me. U know i ve read a lsot of articles on this topic & it is confusing me a lot. So i really need some serious help. Of course first 2 months i would definately use the disposables as i cant do the laundry so often. But then the reasearch here shows that washable ones help the baby train earlier & R more better as there r very few chances of baby getting rashes. Just as theyve started insisting on breast milk for baby, slowly they r preaching for washable diapers. Need Help fm experienced moms of washable diapers.

Stem cell banking on with life cell
yes Life cell is the best, when ourbabygirl was due in Feb 2011 we shortlisted Lifecell after meeting Cyrobanks, Relicord, Babycord etc. Cyrobanks are thugs they promise you the moon and also there is no indian hand in this company so we can' t rely on them at all. Relicord is good but the offers have so much marketing gimmicks. Other players lacks either the technical inf... - CK [View Message]

Hi

I am new to dwarka and want to know if there is any good doctor having her clinic here (I expect them to be visiting some good hospotal).

I know some good doctors in gurgaon like Dr Chetna Jain (Columbia Asia), Dr Manvita (Max).
