I am surprised you did not know that babies do not need to start solids at 4th months. actually upto 1 year straight-babies do not need to start solids as far as mother can supply all the nutrients by bf or bm.my friend next door is african ameican and has a 9mnth old who is exclusively on bf/bm. he has 2 teeths, crawls and stands up. my baby doesnt stand up without support.i feel jealous of his growth sometimes.
she says that she is planning to start solids next month,if dr says its needed. When i started solids for my baby after 6th month, i felt ashamed that I am being selfish at the cost of my baby growth.
i am trying to increase her intake.but i am not willing to force her.i will start juices in the evenings from tommorrow.
you take care.Thank you for your tips.

and its all acc to wat habits we cultivate, babies develop that.nd sometimes they r opposite.
i have heard wat vidya said and also heard other things like you said, but wat you said is 1 out of 10 cases where still dr isnt willing to start solids.
we cannot compare babies,,can we compare ourselves to eachother bodies or growth !! no right,,
babies actions are acc to wat they can do, at the their best, just praise them and help them ! dont feel jealous, feel happy that you dont have sit feeding your baby, 9-10 times a day :)) which m sure ur neighbour next door must b doing, exclusively.

Priya replied. You can start cereals at 4 months only because cereal is rich in irn content and should not replace bf if you are doing so but cereal is good due to being high in iron and vitb
cereal will allow them to be introduced to solids.
At 6 months you start pureed foods only like vidya said to expose them to other tastes.

Vidya replied. Hi abc,
I would like to disagree on that. You need to start babies on solids around 6 months ( there is no exact time period, when the baby shows readiness). It is good for the baby and mom. Ofcoure u should feed breast milk to the baby, my point is not exclusively. Not sure if u remember, they was a big case 3-4 yrs ago in the US, in PA dutch county, where the mom got convicted of murder/endangerment of life coz she was exclusively breast feeding a 1 yr old baby and the baby was malnourished and died.
So it depends a lot on your babies. in the case of u'r neighbour may be it is ok for the baby as she is developing normally. That is why her ped is not worried. But later on she is going to have a tough time when all of a sudden she is going to start solids and around 10 months the babies know a lot and may become stubborn. So starting solids is a way to get the baby used to different tastes earlier on. + in most cases moms won't be able to produce that much milk coz some babies really need a lot more. My son used to drink 8 oz of milk every feeding, eat about 7-8 tablespoons of cereal or more at 9 months. So there is no hard and fast rule. There are other reasons to too start solids around 6 months. Once they have teeth, babies start to bite while feeding and it is very painfull for the moms so it only natural for the moms to alteast need a break.
Another thing all babies are different. You just cannot compare babies. So no need to feel jealous about your neighoubour's kid. Even if some babies are late talkers or walkers, around the age of 4 most normal kids are the same developmentally.
Always go by your ped's advice. She/He knows your baby the best.
Good luck.

Breast pumps
I am using a medela pump to feed my baby when I am out. The medela breast pumps are really a good choice for the working moms. We can pump the milk regularly and can store it and use whenever needed.... - dalewhither [View Message]
evenflo elan breast pump
Buy this pump! It’s made my life so much easier. I always got sore with my old Medela Advanced, but that never happens with the Ameda Purely Yours Breast Pump. What really makes a difference is its ease of use. It’s really easy to switch between pumping phases and take apart to clean. Strongly recommend it for all mothers that pump daily.... - stellatylor [View Message]

try this
As we discussed earlier in this forum I used magnetic alphabets , through which he has learnt alphabets within a week. And number within 4 days.
It is as like take the letter and stick to it where ever he goes more and ask him to search a particular letter. this worked very well for me.
