Due Date Club December 2002:Sleeping position

HI everyone,

it's been a long time since i posted. hope everyone's pregnancy is progressing great. Recently my relatives told me a lot things not to do and i thought i'll share it with u all.

1. try not ot sleep too much on your back.
2. sleeping to your left is slightly better than the right as the blood circulation is greater for the baby and same for oxygen supply.
3. do not abruptly turn from left side to your right or vice-versa ....they say that this might rarely cause the umbilical cord to wrap around the baby's neck ..what u have do to turn is this...get up to sitting position, turn and then lie on that side...try to remember this.
4. bend at your knees and go down rather than abruptly bending at your tummy.
5. dont stretch too much to get items beyond your reach.

take care,
Vasudha.

thanks for ur valuable advices. i am also getting lot of advices like this. heard that we should work a lot after 18 - 20 weeks, which will relax our muscles, and help for normal delivery. walking is also a verygood exercise. also, should walk slowly.

hi,
Thank you very much for sharing such a good info. I find it difficult to sleep in a particular position. If I sleep to my left then i feel good for some minutes and then change to right side but then i don't feel comfortable there and then again i will try to sleep straight and the whole process repeates and I won't sleep much. So this is my problem. But after your message I came to know many things and will try to do that. thanks once again.

Hi Vasudha,
How are you ? Am doing well and in my 16th week now.Trying to put on some weight now.
All of them are very good advices and very much true.We are not supposed to sleep on our back from 5th month onwards and we shouldn't do any exercise which requires to be done lying on our back.I put this in practice when i started may 2nd trimester since before pregnancy i used to sleep on my back most of the time.I find it difficult but try my best not to forget.
I was just wondering whether climbing is ok in pregnancy ?

I thik climbing up on a chair or so should again be avoided. try to arrange your kitchen to keep freq req items within your reach or ask your hubby to reach out for it. as far as possible dont do anything that requires u to stretch. i am going to complete 16 weeks today and have gained totally 5 pounds so far...good luck to u.

Hi Sheel,
You can drink water but after one day of your delivery and it would be said by doctors also. You have to take care at that moment because after delivery of baby you would have lot of pain.... - Roja [View Message]

Hi Sheel,
Why do you think in such way doctors would take care of you also.So it is better you do not take any tensions for that which would be better for you only.I hope you would do that.... - Megha [View Message]

Hi Sheel,
You can take water there would not be any problem also. And it would be better you do normal instead of operation.Even you can walk freely by evening if it is normal.... - Mala [View Message]
