I was wondering if your babies have dropped, how do you know if they are or not. Did the doctor tell you?

My doc has told me that my baby has dropped in pelvis.Yah,the pelvic pain has become worse,but I could not make out it was because of that.As such I ma suffering from pelvic pain for the last 3 months,so slight more increase did'nt make any difference:).But some experienced people like mothers can see ur tummy and can make out.

Hi Jaya,

Thanks for the information. It's good to know that your baby has dropped. You are getting there! Hope your pelvic pain is tolerable.

During the latter part of pregnancy, the cervix, which is cylindrical in shape, gradually shortens. This process is called \";effacement\"; and usually happens in conjunction with the process of what is often referred to as \";dropping.\"; The baby's head (or breech if it is turned the other way) \";drops\"; or descends into the pelvis as the pregnancy nears the time for labor. Many women ask at some of their later prenatal visits, \";Is my baby's head engaged?\"; Engagement is defined--
medically--as when the widest diameter of the fetal head descends to a particular point in the pelvis but the term is sometimes used interchangeably with \";dropping.\";

Women often have a sense of increased pressure on the muscles of the floor of the pelvis as this happens. It is a completely normal process at the end of pregnancy and is nothing to worry about. However, if it happens early in pregnancy, you should let your doctor know so he/she can make sure your cervix is not dilating prematurely. When the baby has \";dropped\"; you may also notice a greater sensation of pressure on your bladder and find that you have to urinate more frequently. You may also notice that the top of your uterus, or fundus, has become lower and that you no longer feel as much pressure on your stomach after you eat.

Hey Avi. Thx for the info. As usual, you are teaching us the pregnancy facts... ;-)
Like Jaya, I have had this pelvic pain for mths too, so don't know if I would be able to make out, but maybe if my tummy moves down a bit from the ribs, I might know.
I'm sure in due course it will happen.
Cheers,
Simmi

Vindhya, as far as I know, baby dropping is when the baby moves into the pelvic area and the head gets engaged (meaning baby is kinda fixed there)...I heard that you will feel it when the baby does drop .. but i haven't heard anyone tell me that they felt it (not even 2nd time moms)...

My doc didn't mention it when she did the internal.. but as you know, my doctor -she never tells me things that I need to know...

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a Diaper Service Provider in Bangalore? They generally provide cloth diapers and replace them with a new set every 2-3 days.

Thanks in advance
